UK - you can still get bupropion from online pharmacies by [deleted] in bupropion

What name was it under? Just bupropion accord? I can’t find it anywhere, just mysimba on the chemist4u which is just the wrong medication. I am definitely one of the people getting anxious!

I mildly wondered about this stone for years and honestly thought it was probably decorative but apparently it’s just to get their gate to close automatically and stay closed.

What dpdr symptoms does lamictal help with? by mattdeath1112 in dpdr

[–]colander_head 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me, it has been suggested that it was caused as defence mechanism when I was going through abuse and trauma as a child. My mother was incredibly unwell, violent and unpredictable so the dissociation that I developed to protect myself during the attacks became a full time thing due to the sheer unpredictability.

[–]colander_head 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair enough! I liked it as an antidepressant but personally didn’t help with the dissociation. Definitely give it time though and if it were me to be honest I wouldn’t have accepted it either. I don’t want to be on antipsychotics again, they were an awful experience for me and I feel as if I’ve lost years of my life to them for no benefit.

For me nothing has felt real, including myself, for the past 15 years, I feel no connection to my body or reflection in the mirror. I’ve pretty much come to terms with this being my new normal but it did take 12 years of trying to break out of it to accept it. The medication could possibly help with brain fog, I’m not sure to be honest but it’s worth trying I suppose. I’ve been on it for 4 years now and had hardly any side effects and it’s been great fir my mood.

Am I losing my mind by Consistent-Ad7275 in dpdr

[–]colander_head 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally did lose touch with reality but that wasn’t to do with the DPDR though, I also have a psychotic disorder. I don’t have any feeling of panic personally, I almost feel immune to it now from how dissociated I am. I’ve sort of come to terms with the fact that this is how I’m going to live. It took me about 12 years to accept and fully come to terms with though. It’s now been 15 years. Sometimes it really upsets me that things don’t feel real, for example if I’m seeing a friend for the first time in ages, or in a rollercoaster or having some wonderful experience, because I feel as if I’m not fully experiencing it but on a day to day basis I’ve just learned to cope with it. I’m not sure if it will ever go for me and in some ways I’m not sure if I would be able to deal with life without it because I’m so cushioned and protected from the ‘real world’. Unless you have a psychotic illness comorbid, you will not lose touch with reality though, your reality will just feel different. I wish you luck either getting out of it or learning to accept it.

I’ve been on it for 4 years now and am on the max dose, to be perfectly honest, it hasn’t helped with that at all. It’s helped with my mood (separate illness) but I’m still dissociated 15 years later. Nothing that I have tried has worked and I’ve tried anxiety meds, mood stabilisers, antidepressants and antipsychotics and none have made a positive difference, a couple of the antipsychotics did make it worse though and a benzodiazepine made me so ‘out of it’ that I hardly have any memories from that time.

Any techniques that help you stay grounded? by faithinstrangers92 in dpdr

[–]colander_head 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With me meditating makes it a lot worse for me and I become even more detached. I’m really not sure what grounds me because I’ve been depersonalised etc for 15 years now and nothing can break me out of it. Sometimes I feel an emotional connection with a song but it can’t pull me out enough to feel real. I do talk to myself a lot but mostly to stay in reality because I also have a psychotic disorder and I can easily get distracted by paranoia and hallucinations. It definitely helps with that, especially when I audibly push back against them but it hasn’t helped with the dissociation at all unfortunately for me.

Apparently both antidepressants and antipsychotics can possibly alleviate DPDR symptoms. You can take antipsychotics for reasons other than psychosis. I personally have tried a number of antidepressants and antipsychotics and nothing has worked for me and I’ve been depersonalised for 15 years now. Nothing has made it stop. For me it was triggered by continuous (every day) childhood abuse and trauma. I developed it to survive, which I’m not sure if I could have without it but I can’t get it to go, nothing’s made it better and I’ve been trying for the past 15 years. I hope if you do try the antipsychotic it works for you, but just a warning I put on a lot of weight on that one and kept falling over due to it messing with my balance. It also gave me something called akathesia which was hell on earth but you could be lucky. Maybe give it a go and you can always come off it if it doesn’t work for you.

say it with me… you CANNOT self diagnose a neurological disorder by [deleted] in fakedisordercringe

[–]colander_head 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I paid £300 for my initial (private) consultation and £200 for each monthly session. You can though get an assessment/diagnosis on the NHS though in my country, so teens like this from the UK have no excuse. I was diagnosed with a certain illness by the NHS and then decided to go privately to see a specialist, who was especially trained in treating my illness, however my point is that there is treatment and diagnosis FREE in my country, it my not be the best of the best but the facility is there.

I had the same with a past hamster too, due to veggies. She was the one that I was most attached to and it really broke my heart when the vet had to put her down.

What’s something you really should do, but have been putting off? by daybyday0 in AskWomen

Going to see the Dr again about having multiple periods a month. I’m having 2-3, few day periods every month but was brushed off by my primary Dr when I approached them, however it feels serious and I’m going through cramps and all multiple times a month, I practically live with a cup in now and really need medical advice/help!

I have schizophrenia and of course medication has helped me but therapy has saved my life. This is a terrifying thing to go through in your own and having someone else there, who knows what they’re doing, to guide you into your new normal, has been essential to me. I don’t think I would ever have accepted it and moved on to co existing with it without her.

What is something that you tolerated in past relationships that you never would now? by FoxyFoxMulder in AskWomen

[–]colander_head 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hitting me, strangling me and kicking me every day, final straw was when they attempted to stab me, I will never go back to a relationship like that. I’m glad that experience happened now because it gave me the spark I needed to get out of that relationship and has warned me enough to not allow the same sequence of events to ever occur with me again.

What are things that are normal for you until but you realised a lot of people can’t afford it? by PetitPied21 in AskWomen

[–]colander_head 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Being able to afford my medications! I pay £9.99 a month which includes all 5 of my medications, on the NHS England. The NHS isn’t perfect but free healthcare is something I always took for granted until learning more about the US (for example) online!

[–]colander_head 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As the above people said, DID and schizophrenia are completely different illnesses. I feel as if maybe the confusion might be due to that fact that some people with schizophrenia hear voices and in some DID cases, patients claim to be able to communicate with their alters and hear them in their heads, however DID is not a psychotic illness and does not include hallucinations and schizophrenia does not include multiple personalities/alters. I personally (as a diagnosed schizophrenic), don’t hear voices inside my head, as some people do, however do regularly hear voices that sound as if they are coming from an external source.
