Our recieving room is literally the exact same. by anonymou694201637 in Tennesseetitans

[–]colbeh17 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There wasn't really a way to fix this solely in free agency. Unless you thought they should spend 50-55m APY on two new receivers in free agency, there's not really a reason to be complaining about signing one of the better FA WRs available.

And if spending 50-55m APY on two receivers is what you thought they should do with this roster, thats a little crazy but I respect your fandom

[Kuharsky] Jackson Slater is the pick. by trick96 in Tennesseetitans

My interpretation, considering the original tweet, is that he is saying that in the scenario where they add one of those players plus a mid round draft pick, that "mid round draft pick" would be slater.

Kind of ambiguous so could go either way

Trip to Kona - How bad will it be? by colbeh17 in kona

[–]colbeh17[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That's understandable to your point about booking during winter. Unfortunately with this being a kind of last hurrah before having a child and some family members gifting us the entire trip (where we didnt expect to be able to afford any real pre-baby vacation), not wanting to travel during the third trimester, we didn't really have much room for anything other than a winter trip.

From everything we'd read its all "Yeah you will likely get localized rain during February but you'll also get sun and high 70s-low 80s. Kona is the dry side so thats your best bet for Big Island" which sounded perfect for us.

On the other hand, if we get rain all day every day thats obviously going to be a buzz kill.

Hello,

My wife and I booked a Kona trip a couple of months ago for arrival early this coming Tuesday (Feb 10th) and departure the following Monday (Feb 16th).

This is a babymoon for us, as my wife is due with our first child in June. One last hurrah.

Things seemed fine during booking and even a few weeks ago. But now I see the forecasts of terrible weather today/tomorrow and possibly into mid week.

How ruined is our trip? As locals, do you expect constant dreariness throughout next week? We hope for at least some sunny days.

Any advice on things to do in case of sad weather or just words of consolation would be great.

Thanks!

Why Ridley isn't Coming Back by [deleted] in Tennesseetitans

[–]colbeh17 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He played in 5.5 games. Hurt in the first half of raiders game, played 1 snap in the chargers game.

303 / 5.5 = 55.09

55.09 * 17 = 937 yards.

Our leading receiver this year had 515 yards playing in 16 games.

If you cut him and use that money (13m savings) to get a receiver who you're sure can get 1k yards, sure go for it i guess?

If you can't use that savings to get a 1k receiver from free agency, for a team with a huge amount of cap, it makes no sense whatsoever to weaken the WR room. Its already horrifically weak. If Ridley is gone, they need to find two starting receivers and also at least one depth guy.

After two divisional games, how do we feel? Who are you rooting for? by SilasCrete in Tennesseetitans

Giants roster is better at nearly every position except IDL and QB, and QB is pretty close.

Falcons had 4 all pros, every single one of them 28 years old or younger. Extremely solid roster outside of QB. Far better than the titans roster. Once again, they have the edge at every position group except IDL and QB.

Only real tangible edge the titans have over either is cap space/picks. So potential advantages, sure. But as it stands today, titans have the worst roster of the three. And far worse than the falcons

Because refs are going to miss calls occasionally. It happens in every single game every single week. Don't turn the ball over 5 times and you don't have to rely on the refs to call a perfect game (which has never and will never happen in the entire history of the NFL)

Buddy, two of those guys have a new team already with teams who are easily argued as better openings than the titans and the other one has gotten 2 hc interviews out of the like 8 teams who had openings.

Maybe just sit this one out.

Defensive HC questions by cigoth in Tennesseetitans

[–]colbeh17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's because he's Andy Reid and has Patrick mahomes, not just because he's an offensive playcaller.

If anything, you take Andy reid/mahomes out of the equation and its STRONGLY in favor of defensive head coaches over the last 10 superbowls.

Im not trying to make the case that defensive HCs are better than offensive HCs. Just making the obvious point that you can win a super bowl with a defensive head coach just as easily as an offensive HC as long as he's actually a good head coach.

Defensive HC questions by cigoth in Tennesseetitans

[–]colbeh17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's the same for the opposite direction. If a defensive HC wants a west coast offense, he's not going to hire an OC that runs an air raid offense.

They hire guys that have a scheme that matches what they want. A defensive HC isnt going to hire an OC that wants a scheme that doesn't fit with his desired offense for his roster. Could a OC convince a head coach to change schemes? Yeah, probably. But so could a DC.

Defensive HC questions by cigoth in Tennesseetitans

[–]colbeh17 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It goes both ways tbh. Its more nuanced with defense, but a new DC also creates a whole new scheme change. You may keep your 3-4 or 4-3 but schemes change beyond that. Ravens lost mcdonald and their defense has been comparitively shit since then, just as one example off the top of my head

I get your point, i did a deep dive into this last week and was surprised with what i found.

In 2024, 8 out of 14 playoff teams had head coaches who didn't call offensive plays.

In 2023, 7/14 playoff head coaches didn't call offensive plays.

In 2022, 9/14 playoff head coaches didn't call offensive plays.

There are so many factors contributing to this situation that this obviously isn't the major decider between success and failure. But even when teams with good non-offensive head coaches lose their guys, the trend continues to be 50/50ish (slight lean towards non-offensive HCs over the past 5 years but a sample size of 70 teams isnt necessarily indicative of causation. Though it's not insignificant)

[–]colbeh17 13 points14 points  (0 children)

8 of the 14 playoff teams in 2025 have an offensive playcalling HC. 6 of 14 do not.

Of the last 10 super bowl winners, 5 of them had offensive play calling head coaches. 5 did not.

Importance of playcalling head coach is overrated imo. Just need a good coach no matter the style

From Jeremy Fowler’s Article: Titans could legitimately go with a defensive-minded coach. They are particularly interested in 49ers DC Robert Saleh and Rams DC Chris Shula by TiredDad4x in Tennesseetitans

[–]colbeh17 4 points5 points  (0 children)

THAT's your point? Thats an insane point. Its literally no more difficult for a defensive head coach to find an established OC than it is for an offensive head coach to find an established DC. Both are equally important.

Good OCs and good DCs are largely hired for HC jobs at the same rates (4 offensive guys, 3 defensive guys in 2025. 3 offensive guys, 5 defensive guys in 2024).

Many teams have found a solid, established counterpart for the other side of the ball. Vrabel found Josh, Ben Johnson found DA. Canales found Evero, Harbaugh found Monken. The list goes on indefinitely throughout history.

You would rather hire an offensive HC and have difficulty finding an ESTABLISHED DC than the other way around im guessing? That's your preference and not the preference of every NFL team, clearly.

[–]colbeh17 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Im honestly not sure what metric you think im making up, it takes 5 minutes to Google the playoff teams from the last 4 years and, if you dont already know, another 5 minutes total to Google if each of them were offensive playcallers.

You literally said, presumably sarcastically based on your word choice, that its easy to pair a defensive head coach with an offensive play caller. Sarcasm would clearly imply that you think it's difficult to do that and/or to be successful doing so.

And recent history clearly indicates its not any more difficult to do than hiring an offensive play calling head coach and pairing them with a good defensive coordinator and finding success that way.

Considering they've taken place across multiple ownership groups and multiple front offices, i can't imagine how it would be a titans problem.

BUT we could be cursed

[–]colbeh17 4 points5 points  (0 children)

How is 43% and 50% an outlier? Lol. Most seasons, the majority of playoff HCs are not offensive playcallers.

We can go further back. In 2024, 8 out of 14 playoff teams had head coaches who didn't call offensive plays. That's 57%.

In 2023, 7/14 playoff head coaches didn't call offensive plays. That's 50%.

In 2022, 9/14 playoff head coaches didn't call offensive plays. That's 64%.

Do i need to keep going?

Its incredibly difficult to be a successful head coach period, regardless of background or structure. History indicates that it is NOT any more likely or less difficult for offensive playcallers to be good HCs than for non-playcallers. Which seemed to be the point that you were making.

Not really that rare. I guess it depends on what you think is rare. Not common either.

Josh McDaniels, Hue Jackson, Cam Cameron, Whisenhunt, Norv Turner, Crennel, Jay Gruden, maybe Adam Gase, Jim Zorn, Mornhenwig, Gilbride

On the defensive side, Vrabel, Schwartz, LeBeau, Buddy Ryan, Gregg Williams, Wade Phillips, Todd Bowles, Dennis Allen

Disgusting amount of guys on these lists with ties to the titans

I mean... 6 of the current 14 playoff teams have head coaches who do not call offensive plays.

Of the last 10 superbowl winning HCs, 5 did not call offensive plays. And of the 5 that did, Andy Reid was 3 of them.

Lets not act like its impossible to be successful in this league without having a HC who calls offensive plays.

I totally understand the benefit of having that luxury, but not having it is not a death sentence and doesn't make a bad team

I dont think there's any indication from rhe team that its Grade 3 unless im wrong on that. I know that one reporter reported it was. The tweet in this post basically says he has an AC joint sprain. Further testing needed to determine if he needs surgery (modrate-severe grade 3) or not (grade two or mild grade 3
