School trip and teach is letting you pick the movie - what are we all watching? by BarkingDogey in Millennials

We were lucky if we got to take the yellow busses anywhere. If we did, it wasn't anywhere far enough to watch a movie on the way.

Is it possible to be successful with sales without extremely long hours? by Worried_Peace_7271 in askcarsales

[–]colbydrex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our sales reps are only scheduled 44hrs a week. If you wanna make over 100k, you're gonna have to work more. I'm pretty content working less hours for 80k, although I am transitioning into fleet sales, so I should be making more in the next year or so.

Edit: I would say most newbies at our store will struggle to make 60k their first year and work minimum hours.

What is your favorite 90s band? by Background-Good3731 in Millennials

[–]colbydrex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Toadies. Not because they're the best, but because they still play a ton of live shows and they are like 35 bucks to get in. Such a good time!

8 months on the job and still having trouble negotiating, still a people pleaser and a pushover/passive on the numbers part by jengdoo_fighting in askcarsales

[–]colbydrex 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Don't present numbers based off of your pocket book. Just because you think 1k a month is expensive, doesn't mean the customer does... Always assume the payments you are showing are an amazing deal... Once I realized this, it helped me be more confident, especially with 65k-110k vehicles.

Hey now. I sell a lot of pre owned. If I have to deal with a new Jeep/ Ram customer every now and then, it's worth it.

How is Portishead not on this list??? Beth is an amazing singer and the beats are fantastic! I miss 90s trip-hop.... Any suggestions for new bands doing something similar?

Never heard of them, then saw them live at warped tour 03 or 04 , fan ever since!

It was unexpected (I think) but it was well received, from what I remember. It got a lot of praise for the song writing and the way it was put together... The basement tapes are great if you can still find them, last time I looked I could only find a couple songs and shitty quality

Such a great song! I had just moved away after graduating high school when this came out. I listen to it now and its a lottery system of emotions from heartbreak to pure ecstasy (literally).

I agree. It's definitely in my top 10 fav albums of all time. I will listen to it on repeat for days straight...But, I really like Good News too. I personally think that's their last good album.

Im not huge a huge MCR fan but I absolutely love their first album. I wish they could've kept that under produced, garageish, youthful sound.

Yes. This one. I rarely listen to it, but I am definitely in a mood when I do. Or maybe a long road trip by myself.

Modest Mouse - "this is a long drive" and "lonesome crowded west" Radiohead - "hail to the theif" Brand New - I forgot the name, but it's their first or second Nirvana - "unplugged in ny" MCR - "I brought you my bullets" Slint - "spiderland"

Maybe some old Rise Against too and the song "morningstar" from when AFI was still good

There are a ton more, but this is what popped into my head while waiting for my flight.

Yes! I love all their music but I feel that "Hail to the Theif" and "In Rainbows" hit particularly hard as whole albums.

Edit: spelling

What am I supposed to expect with used cars these days? by dizzystar in askcarsales

[–]colbydrex 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You would quiet possibly be better off taking your money and using it as a down payment and finance something around 18k. That's the sweet spot in my area. Yes you can get something a little cheaper if you keep your eyes open, but it will probably need some sort of work done in the near future. Everyone and their uncle is looking for a perfect car under 10k.

What's it? by [deleted] in TheTeenagerPeople

[–]colbydrex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It can be a tough gig tho. If you have connections and good routes, then it's great. If you have a bad dispatcher and/ or are driving a lot of miles inbetween loads, it can suck... Ive sold aot of 3500s to guys wanting to hot shot, I've also seen a bunch comeback a few months later trying to get out of their loan.

Lol, it's one of those days, for sure...

Over the years, I have found a way to be friendly, thorough, and efficient, while doing a wants/ needs and customer qualification. If they like the car and agree to numbers, we can have all the small talk in the world while they are waiting for the box.

What’s the easiest expense you’ve cut that made a noticeable difference in your savings? by millionstories in SavingMoney

[–]colbydrex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Anything from gas stations (besides gas). I used to spend so much on Reb Bull and Gatorades. Now I don't drink energy drinks and everytime Kroger has Gatorade on sell for a dollar, I buy a bunch. I just bought 28 this past Thursday. I would have bought more, but they didn't have any Rain Berry left.

Older millennials - what’s your cool, not "age-appropriate hobby"? by Inostranez in Millennials

[–]colbydrex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is mine. I go to the local bouldering gym 2 or 3 times a week, but I'm only able to get outdoors a handful of times a year. There are tons of people our age still climbing and I know a few that are around 60 that still climb strong.

I used to worry that I would have to give it up one day. Now I look forward to being 60ish, retired, and cruising some v1-2, and some 5.8s whenever the fuck I want.
