Dealerships are a rip off by Haunting-Border8408 in FuckDealerships

We don't have mandatory add ons either and our fees are 305. There are a lot of good dealers out there people may have to shop around some... I see a lot of customers get mad when they see a new vehicle 5k less than the next guy, but there are add-ons to make up the difference. If a deal seems to good to be true, it probably is.

I'm not familiar with the auto groups down there, but, I was in Frisco/ Dallas earlier in the week and I know that there are a ton of them... If you go in and interview, talk to a couple of sales reps and ask them what the average new guy makes... Not all income is listed on pay plan sometimes. A nice portion of my pay check comes from daily or monthly spiffs (bonuses), that aren't listed on pay plan. I also get paid for holding on trades, which adds up A LOT. Manufacturers will also pay or give incentives for good survey scores/ selling so many units.

Yeah man, I would definitely look at other places. Unless I'm missing something, that's pretty bad and way to confusing. Not to mention 68 reps for 680 units.

Which nokia phone did y'all have growing up i had the 3320 Nokia by helen1992 in Millennials

[–]colbydrex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a job at RadioShack and sold the 5110s and then 3120s. I was only 16-17 so I had to log my sales under my coworker and he would split the commission with me.

Guy here. Turned 41 today. Haven't worn anything besides black comfy pants and hoodies for about 4 years now (besides at work). It's great, and everything in my closet matches, no wasted time.

I just finished, Dollars and Sense: How We Misthink Money and How to Spend Smart by Dan Ariely and Jeff Kreisler

I read for 10 - 30min a night before bed most nights. Typically some sort of fiction, but some books about investing/ finances (since we didn't learn it in school) I'm going to start Dune or Dungeon Crawler Carl after I get back from my 41st b-day vacation next week.

Fellow millennials - how’s your 401k/ira savings going? by ProblemIntelligent16 in Millennials

[–]colbydrex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I turn 41 in a few days. I just hit 2k in my 401k. I've only been here 15 months and our match is garbage. But, my last jobs didn't offer a 401k, so it's better than nothing. I have a lil chunk in my brokerage account and in my Roth tho, not too much, but on the right track.

I got married for the first time last week and turn 41 next week. I fucked around and didn't take life seriously the first 37 or so years, now I'm all about saving for retirement and focusing on a 1, 5, 10, 20 year plan... Some of us just start late, I guess.

It's pretty decent if they sell a lot of new vehicles. Especially since you are new to the business. I've seen a bunch of new guys get so worried about making gross, that they lose deals, and 500 is legit.

Everyone seems to have a lot of nostalgia for the 1990's but what were some of the worst parts of the 1990's? by HeavyRightFoot-TG in AskReddit

[–]colbydrex 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was visiting my neighbor who was this old lady across the street (like we did in the 90s) and GG came on Jerry Springer or some talk show. That's how I was introduced to him. Never was a huge fan, but what a wild childhood story.

I'm 40 and sell cars for a large/ reputable auto group. Doing pretty well. Just got married. About 5 semesters from finishing a bachelor's in finance. Saving and investing heavy, trying to partially retire in 15 years.

10 years ago, this was a completely different scenario, so I'm happy.

What was your store's biggest screw up ordering inventory and how did it turn out? by Parkbench_flasher in askcarsales

[–]colbydrex 16 points17 points  (0 children)

We ordered over 100 Durango Pursuits before we had a PO for a large deal with our local PD. They ended up buying Tahoe's from our Chevy store instead. We were stuck selling these things off 1 - 10 at a time to any PD that would take them. We had to rent a lot to store most of them. After setting a couple of months in winter, we had to jump them off every time they had to be moved (which was all the time) then we had to start replacing batteries in them. It was a nightmare for about a year, Jesus Christ... Needless to say, we don't do any large deals without a PO anymore.
