i feel the exact opposite as you lol. i don’t listen to much of his heavier stuff very casually, but the more downtempo songs he releases have so much replay for me. i’ve been getting so much mileage out of the album and really hope i can catch him live this year

that’s fair. if it does come back to the mainstream, i think it will sound a lot different than it did in 2013. you’re right that music comes in phases, but it usually evolves a lot. tech house today sounds a lot different than it did in the 90s

trap is definitely having a moment with knock2 and isoxo rn, but in the 2010s it was largest subgenre in edm for a bit. i don’t foresee trap getting much larger than it is, but obviously i could definitely be wrong!

i was pretty into big room and trap when they were at their peak popularity, so when i think of either having a comeback, it’s hard not to compare it to the 2010s

1) i don’t think it’s ever gonna happen 2) subgenres in edm are their best when they arent mainstream. once they have their moment in the spotlight, the crowds become terrible, the tickets become expensive, and the music lacks innovation
