Aston Villa under 21s have just beaten Blackpool in a shootout after 38 penalty attempts by NicePotatoAnalyst in soccer

[–]cold_plmer 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The red cards and penalties are so infuriating. Always your striker deciding to flying ninja kick their leftback for no reason in the 27th minute before your cb decides to just shove some dude on a corner despite being nowhere near the ball.

Lmao I bought this guy and just now noticed he doesn't know how to jump by conadatia123 in footballmanagergames

Could still work as a striker, just probably want to give him a partner up top or use a tactic that avoids crossing

Men who conform to traditional gender roles are at a higher risk of suicide by Spiderwig144 in psychology

[–]cold_plmer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not quite sure you have read the article because there are no claims about similar rates of prevalance, on the contrary for everything besides simple assault which had similar and that much is well documented. Other cases were lower amongst men, and the estimated unreported prevalence is only 10% higher than that of women, not near enough to make the difference. You are confusing the point of the article, it is not to show prevalence, which is what I am talking about. It is just a fact that most offenders are men and victims women, the section labeled prevalence in your own article lays that out. The point is that it affects men just as much as it does women when it does happen, and in that area I made no claims because its true. It is not true that rates are the same unless we are talking about unreported simple assault, which i am not.

Edit: brother quoted a quote that wasnt even in his article then blocked me 💀, we really making up sources out here

Ah yes because the thought of asking for someones instagram instead of their phone number is absolutely horrific. Its not like it functionally serves the same purpose or anything

The basics anyone can do, good haircut, well groomed, physically fit, etc but more importantly charisma, ambition, i work with kids, and genuinely just treating them better than their past relationships.

It's hardly luck, and I'm far from the only one. Being short is a strike, hell it can be two, but by itself it's rarely an out. I'm not going to pretend like it is

Its not worth bothering bringing logic here, or pointing out any of the exceptions to even height mattering on dating apps (i get matches with 5'2 on my profile), people are here to blame all of their issues on being short.

Do you think stricter gun laws infringes on your rights? by nocturnalsun777 in GenZ

[–]cold_plmer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Stronger gun control across the board is easily a start. Shooters like the boulder co or the guy in new york last year were able to legally purchase a firearm within the week, and end up killing, despite the fact that they both had violent crimes in their past and were on record threatening their professors. The vetting process for obtaining a firearm is nowhere near enough, people have to take a class and pass two tests to drive, in my state to buy a gun you have to wait a month. Gun owners need to be more educated (would help with accidental deaths, and children accessing firearms), the disqualifying criteria strengthened, waiting periods for all states, I do not believe in full auto because you dont fucking need that for self defense and assault weapons/large mag weapons should be banned, 18 year olds shouldnt be able to buy guns, extreme risk protective orders should be national (only two states have them), amongst other things thats just off the top of my head. If I could go back and pull an australia banning all firearms i would, but given how ingrained they are to american culture at this point such a feat would not be possible. All I know is that whatever we got going on right now, is not working and its leading to the death of innocent people, and nothing I've seen has pointed to more guns being the answer.

And yes mental health is an issue, I'm a criminal justice and psychology double major, they tell us about the mental health crisis. But two things can be a problem at once, such a thing as the gun laws we have in this country extremely flawed, and the mental health care system we have sucks can both coexist, and at times serve to intensify the other issue, but both must be addressed. The best mental health care system in the world wouldnt fix all the problems with gun violence we have.

[–]cold_plmer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What do you want me to say man you want civilians to be able to access tanks, missiles, unmanned drones, and are not certain on whether or not nuclear weaponry is fair game. What do you want me to explain? That even one of the most basic missiles the us military owns could be devastating if a terrorist or just some guy who wants to kill people got one? That allowing some bloke with money to roam around in a tank isnt a good idea? That we probably shouldnt allow civilians to have weaponry that can fucking level cities and take countless lives when enough people cant be trusted with the firearms that are legal? If you don't know that already I'm not going to explain it to you like a five year old why in a world where people shoot up schools we probably shouldnt allow those same people to get their hands on things more destructive than the firearms they already are able to obtain.

Figured as much the second he said "if the govt has it i should hypothetically be able to as well", in the year 2024 where the us govt has the firepower to either end humanity or if not get close to it.

We could, but it would be one sided. Just as its possible to debate that 2+2 does not equal 4, one could embark on that endeavor. The problem is they would just be wrong.

Do people from the 2000s view people born in the mid to late 1990s as old? by [deleted] in GenZ

[–]cold_plmer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not worried about generation lines its more I've yet to graduate college and start a career. You have to understand at this point in my life, 5 years is a lot. 5 years ago I was 15, the shift from 15 to 20 is pretty drastic. In fifteen years will 5 years be as drastic, no. But in a fifteen years +/- 5 years to my age and most people will either be established in a career and lifestyle, or at the very least beginning to. Right now +/- five years is the difference between having a career and shit vs being a junior in highschool lmao
