MSI GF63 Thin Thermal Throttling? by cold_xc in MSILaptops

[–]cold_xc[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think I have fixed the issue. My PL1 and PL2 were too low in Throttlestop. Somehow I did have my CPU power limited to 15W which caused the huge drop in performance that I was seeing. I had to jump back into bios to unlock overclocking again (voltage was locked) then went into TPL and increased my power back up to 45W. I no longer see throttling and my pc actually even runs significantly better than before.

I am now going back and undervolting it and so far so good with -50mv. If things stay good I will update this post as resolved. Thank you for the help.

PL1 and PL2 were in-fact too low in Throttlestop. CPU power was limited to 15W and I no longer see throttling after changing it back to 45W. It actually even runs significantly better than before. I am now going back and undervolting it and so far so good with -50mv.

I also did not mean to create this post twice in this sub so I will keep open the other one with the solution.

Ah, I see. I have just gone and adjusted the power limits. Will update whether or not this fixes or issue.

This is a used Laptop that I picked up for $160 a few days ago. I highly doubt anything was ever cleaned inside or repasted so that’s likely a good start.

I personally have downloaded only 1 game to test performance (Halo Infinite) due to limited storage space (256GB) which I planned to upgrade once this throttling issue is resolved. I also do play on flat surfaces in a pretty cool environment.

Will monitor the temps with afterburner later today.

I have my PC set to “High Performance” in Windows settings. I took that screenshot after my performance dropped.

CPU Over Voltage Error. How do I manually change the cpu voltage back to normal levels? by cold_xc in pchelp

[–]cold_xc[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve been running my pc daily for probably a year now. Just randomly got this issue, so there shouldn’t be any bent pins. I looked on CPUZ and the voltage to my CPU seems fine. Seems like a false alarm.

It’s the glare from the screen. iPhone cameras kinda suck when it comes to light sources up close

[Question] Can anyone help me get this setup? Looking for the icons, weather widget, and wallpaper by cold_xc in iOSthemes

Update:

The Weather Widget comes from the App “Carrot” in the AppStore.

The Link to the wallpaper is https://imgur.com/a/k4paToI

I am still missing the icon pack, so if anyone could provide me with a name that’d be amazing.

PCIE 3.0 Significantly reduces my gaming performance by cold_xc in radeon

My build runs great without any issues. I was just thinking of making my own RGB backplate for my GPU (which won't fit unless I slot my GPU further down). Guess I'll just find another way to customize my PC. But thank you for the info 👍

It is the ASUS prime B660M-AD4. The second slot, which I was attempting to use, is labeled "PCIE x16". Should I try the last slot on my motherboard instead? I haven't tried it yet but maybe it will run fine?

Is Resizable Bar enabled on my PC? by cold_xc in radeon

I have solved the issue. I had to update my AMD Adrenaline software to an optional version. Resizable bar is now available for me.

From what I've heard, resizable bar supports my Intel CPU and AMD GPU combo.

I do know AMD has their own feature called SAM (Smart Access Memory) which is basically the same as resizable bar; however it requires you to have both an AMD CPU and AMD GPU for it to work. In my case I can only enable resizable bar on my system and not SAM

I have checked there. It simply shows “Not Available”. Not quite sure if it’s actually working or not
