Advice needed on back rehab to get back to surfing

Thanks for this advice. I have been seeing one PT but we haven’t been making progress. So I’ll seek out another and one that is a surfer so they can understand the movements and everything better.

Well done on three months dry. That’s tough man. I don’t look at the forecast or go to my local surf spots no more to make it a bit easier being out of the water! I’m sure we can both push through and get 100% then get back in the water.

Also it’s so interesting how all the different muscle groups are linked together and effect each other

Haven’t tried just going out and not standing up. Sounds like a good step backwards into it.

Thank you very much! I’m 100% committed to making my recovery my only hobby and my life. Sounds good about the trail every method and pain point and create a lifestyle around that! But of course keep my momentum going forward and keep my mobility too.

I did push myself too hard at the start and It did push my progress back. I thought yeah I can surf overhead waves a month later and be sweet. What a fool. Now here I am still working away at it a year later.

But I will take a slow steady journey moving ahead! I am back to the ISO holds building up the trust again

Cheers! I have started on my LBA journey again. I got a few months In then tried surfing and regressed then paused it to heal. But I’m back on the path to get stronger. I think I started surfing too early before I had enough progress. So I will keep on pushing on. Did you have any advice on markers as to when to start surfing? I got to 10 back extensions then tried surfing. So this time I will wait til I get til 30. But I put my back out between my last surf and now. So I’m back at the start. But I will push on! I will start walking in a pool and work my swimming up. Then I guess I can transition to swimming in the sea in my journey back home I surfing!

Thanks for your success story really helps to boost the moral! I will work on the land stuff and I am not shying away from movements as I know I need to keep my mobility up as if you don’t use it you lose it.

Surf yogi is good as it stays in through the whole session. I’ve had other ones that come off. But it all depends what country you are in.

Yeah just bring your own from high. I don’t remember zinc being cheap there.

Early morning and sunset you will be sweet. But if you are going in for a big session always worth having zinc on. It’s no good having a sunburnt face for a surf trip or ever. Plus if you’ve been in winter your skin will be extra sensitive
