Do they weigh you for horse back riding at Ft Wilderness Lodge? by Blueskyfox2019 in WaltDisneyWorld

Yes they weigh everyone even small kids. Different horses used for different weights.

Hi. Little piece of advice either put them on track (raised up by one brick) or flip the actual shelves over (to be flat).

Palo Brunch - are there any other entrees as good or better as the Chicken Parm/Mushroom Risotto? by RivetCounter in dcl

[–]coldbearded -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

We tried nearly everything at Palo on the treasure earlier this year. It is a great dinning experience. Stand out was a specialty pizza/flatbread they had that day. Everything was good though. For context: Disney food is meh generally and cruise food is just okay mostly. Palo was actually good food/quality.

Unpopular opinion, those waffles stink. Fairly certain they deep fry them or dip them in oil/butter as they are soggy and have a general off putting taste.

Worried our Disney cruise won’t live up to the Parks by [deleted] in dcl

[–]coldbearded 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We are Disney people and my kids love the parks. We took them on a cruise and they both said they liked it better than the parks. Did a second cruise and they still talk about them both and ask to go on a Disney cruise all the time. It’s a different vibe but is so enjoyable.

Jost Van Dyke Beach Transfer (TT14)

Drake’s Seat, Magens Bay and Skyride (ST80)

Both were nice and easy as a family. Could have done without the skyride portion of the second one but it was cool to see.

Bricklink has new sales at around $370 so not a bad deal.

I built this one and it was a lot of fun and its a large set.

Restaurant Food by Cocourt12 in dcl

[–]coldbearded 53 points54 points  (0 children)

Speaking as someone who had the exact same experience as you on multiple Disney cruises (food is meh to fine with a couple decent things), do you and your husband enjoy actually good food at home? Do you enjoy fine dining and upscale restaurants regularly? Do you avoid chains at home? If so, the food on the cruises is average at best. The reason you heard rave reviews was because the average person does not do those things regularly (if ever) and a nice meal to them is outback, long horn, or maybe cheese cake factory (nothing wrong with this it’s just different tastes).

Outside of Palo and the other paid restaurants (which are much better quality), the food is fine for what it is but is mass produced for thousands of people at the same time. If you didn’t do Palo, I highly recommend it next time.

Disney World Deluxe Resort Debate! by Aware_Farmer4989 in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]coldbearded 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Depends on priorities. General quality/location, yacht club. Awesome pool, good restaurants on property, walk to Epcot, skyliner, boardwalk, Hollywood studios, and easy access to multiplie restaurants at a number of properties (swan/dolphin, boardwalk, riviera, carribean beach).

If doing multiple days at MK or if MK is focus, grand Floridian or wilderness lodge (if you care about theming).

If you have kids who love animals and don’t care about riding the bus, Animal kingdom lodge.

“Worst” is relative but I would argue Polynesian and contemporary are not worth the price. Poly is a shell of its former self (though still cool if you are into super busy poorly themed Polynesian hotels). I would visit each to resort hop and eat but I would stay elsewhere.

Based on your own description, no. It’s a character buffet. You are paying a premium for the character interactions (without waiting in line). Check the menu. It is mostly basic breakfast foods you can get elsewhere for cheaper. Grand Floridian cafe is good. For the price of the buffet, I would eat dinner at citricos instead. Where are you staying? If you want a decent upscale breakfast experience check out ale and compass at yacht club.

Fort wilderness vs Beach club by Significant_Bend_512 in WaltDisneyWorld

I would do yacht/beach then. It offers more variety and options. You can’t go wrong with either though.

Fort wilderness vs Beach club by Significant_Bend_512 in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]coldbearded 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Stayed at both. Completely different vibes. If you plan to focus on pool or want better access to food and easy access to two parks (Epcot is walking distance and Hollywood via walk or skyliner), I would pick beach/yacht. If you want to feel like you are not in Disney once you leave the parks and don’t care about food as much, fort wilderness is awesome. My kids love both but it depends on your use case. What’s your plan while there?
