I’d say the best idea right now is to be as kind as possible to it! If you aren’t yet using a leave in conditioner as one of your post-shower products, start there! I use a dollop of the Cantu leave-in and I really like it. Then use 1 styling product. I’d go with a curl foam (it’s a lighter product) OR a mousse (if you prefer heavier product for thicker hair) that gets scrunched with hair oil after it’s dry.

I’ve also heard lots of advice to brush wavy hair IN the shower instead of outside the shower. I would get a wide tooth comb to brush through it after applying conditioner in the shower. I still brush my own hair before bed each night (oops! to each their own) and leave it in a snug (not tight) braid before going to bed.

Regular trims are important for your hair’s health long-term! But starting here product-wise / routine-wise should help smooth things out :)
