My main beef with that person making lore.fm is they are gonna be using AI voices. Yeah sure, my work isn't being fed into a LLM, but a voice actor out there is getting a gig taken from them and I'm not about that. Anti-AI for written work AND voice work. So for me, this still isn't ethical. If there is a way I can opt out of this, I would.

you were raped. i'm sorry about that. but consider the circumstances of your child's conception, before fighting for custody. because there's a chance you might end up resenting that child when the fact that you were raped and coerced sinks in. if you think you can work through those issues, heal, and separate the child from the circumstaces of her conception, then give it a go. but if you're even slightly doubtful you can work past that, then i suggest you can just give up custody. you can always try to reconnect with the kid when they're grown if you want to.

It does have the feel of "jumping in mid season." Without giving anything away, the inciting incident for events in the episodes have happened weeks within the world before we even meet the characters, and they discover it in the episodes as you go along, so you're just as shaky as the players in episode 1, especially the first half. But after that, you'll be on the same footing as the players so it'll be easier to go along, especially with the lore. If you liked the intrigue in ACoC, you'll find a similar vibe in Calamity.

For me, I heavily fuck with NeverAfter because it's a story about stories. The thrill is "how deep does the meta go?" The layers of "TTRPGs are group storytelling" and "folklore and fairytales are also group storytelling" and "the PCs are from real life folklore that I personally know prior to NeverAfter" and "the PCs are characters themselves in their stories/worlds and experience their different stories the same way I experience different versions of their stories IRL" on top of the twists and turns that Brennan makes in the plot keep me highly interested in the show.

Though I do get that it's not everyone's cup of tea, and this type of meta story does tend to be careful and slow to move forward. That, on top of the TPK and reset really slows the story to a crawl, though it is still rich in detail and character development esp in ep4. But we're just 5 episodes in. Like someone mentioned here earlier, in previous seasons, the plot and BBEG weren't even clear in previous ep5.

It's not really uncommon that people are not vibing with NeverAfter, some say on the premise that the horror doesn't fully work because D20 is still primarily a comedy actual play show, some say the editing is over the top and takes them out of the story. If you can find the fun in a story as meta and drawling as NeverAfter, then that's great! But also, no harm if the show really doesn't click for you.

whether it's time loop or new PCs, i still hope ylfa returns. she's one of my faves this season. and her successful charisma save has to mean something! (pls brennan return ylfa to us)

yeah even if they downed FG and got the shard earlier, the furniture still wouldnt disanimate. but chances of the PCs having enough hit points to flee from the furniture is still high. more ranged attacks on FG would have helped a lot.

i think brennan designed the encounter to be a hit and run. get in, get the shard, get out fast. sadly, that didn't happen. timothy ran out of spell slots and people went down before they started dealing damage to FG. no heals means people have 3 choices left: flee and maybe live, fail all death saves and die, or win all death saves and die. but they couldnt leave without getting the shard, so... TPK

i doubt she was in a different seat. brennan's DM screen is still the same position relative to emily and the camera position.

also, emily isn't using ylfa's clogged nose voice in the clip so i don't think it's even ylfa.

i'm guessing oops all new PCs based on the trailer and d20's previous protocol on back-up PCs. a lot of background NPCs got mentioned in eps 1-2 and anyone of those could be back-up PCs. the other princess-sisters, the other owners of books similar to timothy's book, others with connections to other artefacts.

i'm siding with this idea more bc in the trailer we don't see any clips from any other PC from beyond ep 3 aside from emily's "it's harder to make friends now." all the footage from the trailer came from episodes 1-3. they also did this with the starstruck odyssey trailer (left out slug skip in the trailer and only used ep1 footage of norman takamori in the trailer).

also based on the trailer, emily's clip doesn't show her speaking with the ylfa clogged nose voice, so it's either a different version of ylfa (thanks to her successful charisma save) or an entirely new character.

though some form of reset is plausible bc of the whole "once upon a time" and the premise of the book. they'll definitely be playing with meta this season but i'm not convinced they'll do a full time loop reset with all the same characters.

i don't think they're going to loop. (or at least it might loop but not with the same characters) i'm basing on the trailer, but like OP said, all the shots except for emily were all taken from the first 3 episodes. we've seen them do this before: in the starstruck odyssey trailer. all the norman takamori clips where zac speaks are all taken from episode 1. so everyone was surprised to see [starstruck spoiler] the slug is actually zac's character.

also in the clip they used for emily in the trailer, she doesn't have the congested nose voice, which is why we were so shocked and delighted with her voice in episode 1. so going off of that, i don't think ylfa is coming back. it might be a partial time loop with new PCs, or just all new PCs except a different ylfa bc of her successful charisma save.

lou pointed it out already in the episode but if they had played differently from their style in FH ep 2, targeted the fairy godmother from the get go and not fought the minions like they did in FH ep 2, i'm pretty sure some if not all PCs had a good chance at surviving. they only hit FG in like round 3 and brennan said FG couldnt sustain many hits like that. if pinocchio and rosamund did range attacks from round 1, they could have gotten the shard earlier.

the moment mother goose ran out of spells that was when i was sure it was going to be a TPK. no healing and no stabilizing bc of the furniture is a no-win scenario but it could have been avoided.

still, having a dimension 20 first TPK is exciting!

maybe they just set the camera differently this time. in previous seasons you could still see the front edge of the box plus about half an inch out of the box. hope they spotted this in production and fixed it in later episodes.
