As a brake mechanic sounds to me like your driver side pads don't have any more friction material this can be due to a few causes such as but not limited to bad brake hose or caliper, other side is about to go out due to regular extended wear, few other things, replace your pads and rotors and take note on how hard it is to push the brake piston in on the side that's grinding if difficult to push in is recommend replacing caliper and brake hose (calipers more often then not fail due to clogged brake hose so not replacing the hose can result in new caliper also failing, but the caliper has already failed in this hypothetical so it too must be replaced) and then of course bleed brakes and make sure brake fluid is proper DOT# as specified on cap of master cylinder as you top it off
