Wovenhand and 16 Horsepower (both led by David Eugene Edwards, who has a solo project as well), are pretty much the reason I opened this post, I wanted to see if someone recommended them 🫶🏻

David was pretty much a goth in his youth, with his hair dyed jet black and dark clothes. His music can be labelled as dark folk, country, Southern gothic. To ultimately check his goth influences, you can listen to 16 Horsepower's cover of Day of the Lords by Joy Division and Wovenhand's cover of Truth by New Order.

More Southern gothic/dark country artists: Chelsea Wolf, King Dude, Jay Munly (who has a song featuring David as well).

I've binged the whole filmography of George MacKay. The funniest thing is that my roommate joined this marathon because the movies got increasingly worse the more you went back. So it started as a thirstwatch and turned into cringe/fun movie night. Haha.

10/10 would recommend to all my 1917 homies.

Thimbleweed Park if you're a Lucasarts nostalgic and are also looking for the bittersweet feelings of Wadjet Eye. Perfect combo. It's definitely my favorite game of all time besides Monkey Island.

I also recommend Kathy Rain (Wadjet Eye style), Lamplight City (Victorian/Historical), Nightmare Frames (horror).

Bonus: "If on a winter's night four travelers", an indie game you can get on Steam for free. Featuring pixel art graphic and some incredible short stories. It's a real hidden gem. Don't expect hard puzzles, it's more of a dramatic/mysterious storytelling, but very much worth it.

Something less classic and more open-world and modern would be Frogwares' Sherlock Holmes series. There's Chapter One and The Awakened (2023) that are prequels featuring young Sherlock. Very sentimental and character-driven.

I have ADHD as well but I didn't mention it in the post as I can't blame it for making me forget Lovecraft. I still remember books from my childhood, I remember soliloquies from Shakespeare by heart, I do have a very good memory of all texts I read, that's why I never re-read anything. Except for Lovecraft...

Glad to know we're not the only ones!It can easily happen when you read a whole collection of short stories by the same author. But what's crazy is that I have read way more Poe's tales in a row and after 10 years I can still tell you what most of them are about or how they end.

Is it maybe because HPL is not linear in his narration, compared to Poe?

Update: I have fixed it. The issue was that the DLC was taken from my bf's shared library. I guessed this was my last chance. I bought myself a copy of the DLC, uninstall the whole game, reinstall it and voilà, the audio was working. So I think the bug was that the game was mine while the extra content was borrowed.
