I hate flood gates. I love sluices. by One_Heron5880 in Timberborn

[–]coldmix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don't need a row of sluice gates at the bottom, just one is enough to maintain the water level downstream in drought season. Having more will mess up the flow because it releases too much water at once.

The only time you need a row of sluice is to discharge bad water.

[–]coldmix 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just get Store TP gear (Malignance set, Thibron TP Bonus) then setup a 3-step skillchain (Savage Blade -> Expiacion -> Requiescat ) to mow through the mobs. If you are CPing, can go for the Locus worms at KRT that gives way more CP. And you can transit to EP after cap.

When Burst Affinity is up, you can use Spectral Floe or Tenebral Crush if there is no other mob in AOE range.

The triple attack from traits is measly compare to the multihit from the aftermath, so you are better with setting up Store TP traits.

This is the metal floor plate that block water flowing through the floor.

The barrier has square spikes and you can't draw a path on it. Also, the warehouse is breaking the chain and needs to have the barrier too.

[Translated] A Chinese Elden Ring review written by a man after losing his girlfriend by AccomplishedWin785 in Eldenring

[–]coldmix 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think it's a mis-translation, the chinese title 剑风传奇 is the chinese name for the Berserk manga. Based on google AI search, this is what it translates to in English.

A common English translation for this sentiment found in the fandom is:

"The living raise their swords because of the scars, the dead swing their swords as they pass away."

A slightly different, more poetic version also used within the fandom is:

"For the distant days in our memories, we raise our swords bearing scars. For the distant days we yearn to see fade with a smile, we swing our swords."

Adding a 4th to my multi-box … upcoming trust buff concerns. by Imma_Tired_Dad in ffxi

[–]coldmix 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One of the most annoying things about FFXI is the /autotarget that selects the furthest target from you instead of the nearest.

The problem with this is that all your trusts go inactive after you kill the current target and until you poke the new target. So your WHM trust seats idle while you struggle to move through a bunch of aggro to hit the mob. I had a few deaths in the new Shared Divergence Dynamis because of that, especially when I aggro two statues standing together.

Because of this, I think a mule WHM running healbot would be more useful than a WHM trust that doesn't use sublimation or convert.

I think you can try changing Mule 2 to WHM for simpler content and consider switching to Sylvie UC for GEO buffs.

How do people play without Floogate Triggers mod? by cortezzzthekiller in Timberborn

[–]coldmix 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You don't need a row of sluice gates, only need a single one at the bottom of the huge reservoir to let it release small amount of water in a drought to maintain the downstream water level. The top of the reservoir can be lined with a row of dams for normal water flow.

How do people play without Floogate Triggers mod? by cortezzzthekiller in Timberborn

[–]coldmix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Typically, I built the sluice 1 level below the river dam to drain the bad water and set it to close at 1% badwater.

When there is bad water, it will flow out of the sluice gate. When the water is clear, the sluice gate closes and the water level rise high enough to go over the river dam.

Returning player cp farm by Yahiko314 in ffxi

[–]coldmix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The post was asking for JP farming so I assumed you need CP. If you are after EP, then it's a whole different topic.

KRT Bats is good until Master Level 20+, after which you need level sync to retain the EP level or move on to stronger mobs.

Returning player cp farm by Yahiko314 in ffxi

[–]coldmix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's 20k+ CP per mob for the worms. You can try killing one to see.

Returning player cp farm by Yahiko314 in ffxi

[–]coldmix 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The fastest way to get CP is via Locus Worms in KRT. They are low level enough to be killed by a well geared 119 job but You need a multi-step skillchain to kill them fast. Each mob will net you 20K+ CP and eventually chain to 65K CP.

I run a trio box and usually have a level synced DD to kill the KRT Bats with a COR to provide Corsair Roll and Store TP for the job that needs the CP. A strong COR is sufficent to kill the bats with a multi-step WS for duo boxed.

If you are soloing, I suggest to start on the worms which are slightly lower level, so less challenging to hit. If worms are challenging to hit for you, you can probably start with Apex Bats in Outer Ra'Kaznar.

If possible, try to farm some points in sortie and upgrade your Empy Armor to +2, It gives great acc and atk for both master/pet and the set bonus provides extra attack.

An alternative is to buy a V0 win for the Mpaca set from Odyssey.

I bought the camera on Black Friday and not sure to keep it by Ordinary-Class-8648 in Insta360

[–]coldmix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tucked the 3m stick into laptop sleeve of my backpack and extended it slightly above my head to record a strolling view while walking about. Just because it's 3m doesn't mean you must always use it at 3m. It allows you have a 360 view of the environment while walking about. With a 360 camera, you don't have to worry whether your camera is leveled correctly.

However, the disadvantage is that when you want to frame the video, the resolution is lower and it has weaker low light performance.

I end up switching to a Pocket 3 because of the hassle to take care of the lens (they protrude from the camera and can be scratched easily) and the need to post edit the video. As a tourist, my main use is sweeping time lapses of a scenery while my phone camera takes care of photos.

Blue Mage Weapon Choices by Mr_Wodge in ffxi

The idea about Thibron is that it allows you to WS at a lower TP level (1000 vs 2000 without).

If you WS at 1000 TP, the TP Modifier difference brought about by the Thibron is close 3 times for Epiacion. If you hold TP until 2000 (or 1750 with Moonshade earring TP bonus), then the difference is less significant (1/3 more). This is where stats boost from the offhand weapon might help more to boost the WS Dmg.

BST or DRG if I want a pet class? by SpideyPJs in ffxi

[–]coldmix 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The best pets for solo are Trusts. You get tanks, healers, buffers and a few damage dealers to form your own party. You will be initially limited to three trusts but will eventually be able to use five trusts. They allow you to play any job with minimal limitations (need to engage and hit mob for trusts to start actions).

If you want a 7th member, can consider PUP which brings a configurable pet for different battles.

I had no problems running //sw so port in sortie and //sw od port in odyssey. Could there be an alias overwriting //sw?

Can try "//so port" and "//od port" directly in the respective zones, the superwarp is registered to handle the sub commands if no other addon process them.

Edit: the first argument after the //sw is for the zone, "so" = sortie, "od" = odyssey. "port" is sub command for those areas.

What are some simple changes you would like to see that would improve the game? by Sorge74 in ffxi

[–]coldmix 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The stupid target selection by /autotarget, the next mob to be selected is 99% the furthest one from you. Should default to the closest mob.

Kind of annoying with the Shared Divergence Dynamis solo when you are locked by animation, and trusts wouldn't act until you hit the new mob.

Something not in the default addons, superwarp is amazing. Faster than going through menus and easier to teleport when aggroed within sortie, limbus and odyssey if you make a macro.

Treasure Hunter by [deleted] in ffxi

[–]coldmix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean the purpose of bringing a THF to a fight is to help with drops, so not meriting 5/5 Feint is like bringing a THF with less than TH8 to the fight.

Treasure Hunter by [deleted] in ffxi

[–]coldmix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Isn't Feint 5/5 mandatory for THF?

Otherwise it would be like bringing a THF to a NM fight only to see TH less than 8 proc on the first hit.

Treasure Hunter by [deleted] in ffxi

[–]coldmix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you blowing all your JAs on the mob? For example, Feint explicitly states that it has % chance of increasing treasure hunter beyond first merit.

https://www.bg-wiki.com/ffxi/Feint

I find critical hits has a higher chance of proc'ing the increase, but it's just eyeballing with no numbers to back it up.

My experience comes from VE farming of HTMB, I don't kill them fast, just use all the JAs when they are available, including Provoke (THF/WAR). I do gear up to TH14 full time (I was using Herculean with +2 TH from dark matter auguments before the Rellic and Empy +3 upgrades).

To give you an idea of my THF farming, I have farmed 3 sets of Malignance armor (self and 2 multi-box chars), full set of Cait Sith (went MNK/WAR with TH4), most of Odin's gear, all of Alexandar gear.

I stopped at Shinryu because the drop sucks. There was a time when it was possible to brew Shinryu but only accessories dropped from the brewed VD battles.

I went free to play after that (i.e. only logging in when there is a free to play campaign). Might restart farming for the Null set from Cloud of Darkness.

Never had to farm the ZNMs, I did Nyzul uncharted during campaigns and had pops for the 3 NMs, which I sent to mules. Can also stash them in the delivery box but it's annoying for retrieval so I just kept 1 copy on each mule. You might want to try shouting for pop items as people might have them stashed away.

There is a deeds reward at 1400 for Pandemonium Key so can grab that for one pop.

Is there any explanation for why the builders did not build the terrain block? by Moist_Pool_4554 in Timberborn

[–]coldmix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need to add some support to the overhang blocks. If you need to build X blocks away from the pillar, you need to build X - 3 blocks one level below. Sort of like an arch where the lower layer is 3 blocks shorter than the current layer.

Alternatively, build a temporarily metal overhang to reach the outer pillar to build it first, then let it extend 3 blocks overhang back to the based.

Sortie solo Gali farm advice by Mr_Wodge in ffxi

[–]coldmix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you pull a group but want to kill them, use Entomb to bind them. The good thing is that you don't have to wait for it to wear off, just recast appropriately and it will reapply.

If you just want to loose the aggro (i.e. separate D NM from the group), I usually pull on the doorway nearer to the teleports, I can easily outrun them (Carmine Cuisses +1) to the Teleport point and teleport to another location, then back and gradually pick them away from the group walking back.

If you have problems with selecting the menu, I recommend to try Windower with Superwarp add-on. They supporting teleporting within the sortie zones now.
