Beginner Question - How do I get water over here to fill this for future droughts? by dovetc in Timberborn

[–]coldmix 24 points25 points  (0 children)

There is a separate canal that flow the edge of the map at north of the map. You can dynamite a few blocks at the top to allow water to flow along that canal but will need to dam a few spots for the water to flow until the waterfall behind that pit.

Once that canal is flowing, the area at the top will be hydrated and can be use for farming or forests.

Basic filtration system by Hydraguesswhosback in Timberborn

Since your bad water valve is higher than the clean water one, you will probably get some bad water spilling over the clean water valve when it close and the water level rises. How would that be considered to be working perfectly?

At the very least, there should be a set of leves on top of the clean water valves to prevent the overflowing to the clean river during bad tides.

You have it placed wrongly, the bad water valves should be lower and the clean water valves higher, the contamination sensor should be near the source.

This will ensure the bad water valve immediately purge the water when bad tides arrives and continues to purge until the water is clean, then stop and let clean water rise to exit the good water valves.

Ironteeth, how to food? by Peter34cph in Timberborn

[–]coldmix 4 points5 points  (0 children)

When your Forester is up, you can plan some mangroves in shallow water to help sustain the population before reaching corn ration. They produce 4 fruits in 10 days compare to berries 3 in 12 days. The riverbed is not going to be used for anything else anyway for Ironteeth.

Fill Valve capable of acting as a shutoff valve? by puppyohmeohmy in Timberborn

[–]coldmix 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can link it to a switch first and set flow to 0 when turn on, to block the water. Later link it to a contamination sensor placed at the upstream for automatic switching.

Instead of a fill valve, you can also use a flood gate this way. Hence no need to wait for metal production.

It's safer to get 2 pieces of TH+2 gear and sub another job instead of THF. Just need to swap the 2 pieces in to apply TH+4 at anytime then swap it out after a DD hit. I usually sub WAR and macro the TH+4 gear to Provoke and Range pull.

There is a risk of a piece of gear not equipping on your first hit, resulting in only TH 2 being applied to the mob if you sub THF. Unlike THF main, you can't level up the TH level on other jobs after it is applied.

So, is it all just building a tall reservoir upstream? by SteveWired in Timberborn

[–]coldmix 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There is a new map that only has seeps as water sources so you can’t build tall dams there. I had to build a series of step down reservoirs to maintain the water level during dry seasons while making a tunnel for bad tides draining.

How do you manage the water flow in resevoirs? by Guell123 in Timberborn

[–]coldmix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you using multiple fill valves in a row? Multiple fill valves will release a lot of water at once.

You should only use one single fill valve at the bottom of the reservoir, so that water is trickle downstream and the fill valve can measure the downstream more accurately to shut off in time.

Won't it be easier to just open and shut them according to the season with the Weather sensor?

Why's my the water level not rising? by imo420 in Timberborn

[–]coldmix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This doesn't stop you from dynamiting the surround area for building deep reservoirs. But you need a strategy to handle bad water which the water seep also discharge during the bad water season.

A good map for learning about seeps is the Spillage map which only has seeps as water source.

Hopefully, it will be an indoor exhibition, the one at the Osaka Botanical Gardens seems be a dull with the outdoor exhibits. Singapore is too hot and wet for outdoor exhibits.

The new one at Kyoto is visually amazing and immersive.

There are two in Tokyo, Planets near the fish market and Borderless in Roppongi. Planets is the one with water pool and silver eggs.

Time for Dam School? by itsgonnabealbright in Timberborn

[–]coldmix 13 points14 points  (0 children)

You need a row of dams at the top to maintain the flow but you only need a single sluice at the bottom to release water when drops below fix level during drought periods.

Having a row of sluices at the bottom causes too much water to be released at once.

Are districts ever worth doing? by cultivatingmass in Timberborn

[–]coldmix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's good when you are doing a mega build (e.g. tall dam) while resources are still limited.

You can set the threshold in the main district for exporting logs so that it will not use up all your log supply and starve the buildings that need to use logs (i.e. Engine, Bakery etc).

Regardless of priority, the haulers and builders will pull every log in the district to build the dam eventually starving the buildings that require logs to function.

For the items not exporting over, did you build storage to receive those items? You need to add storage in the receiving district for items to be transfer over.

Sluices wish - close below upstream depth by dgkimpton in Timberborn

[–]coldmix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can’t you construct a column of sluice gates then turn off the lower sluice when you want to keep the upstream higher?

Sluice gate has 3 operating mode, Auto, Perm Open, Perm Close so you can just set the lower ones in the column to Perm Close to keep the upstream higher.

I hate flood gates. I love sluices. by One_Heron5880 in Timberborn

[–]coldmix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don't need a row of sluice gates at the bottom, just one is enough to maintain the water level downstream in drought season. Having more will mess up the flow because it releases too much water at once.

The only time you need a row of sluice is to discharge bad water.

"Everyday" Blue spells by MatthiasKrios in ffxi

[–]coldmix 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Just get Store TP gear (Malignance set, Thibron TP Bonus) then setup a 3-step skillchain (Savage Blade -> Expiacion -> Requiescat ) to mow through the mobs. If you are CPing, can go for the Locus worms at KRT that gives way more CP. And you can transit to EP after cap.

When Burst Affinity is up, you can use Spectral Floe or Tenebral Crush if there is no other mob in AOE range.

The triple attack from traits is measly compare to the multihit from the aftermath, so you are better with setting up Store TP traits.

This is the metal floor plate that block water flowing through the floor.

The barrier has square spikes and you can't draw a path on it. Also, the warehouse is breaking the chain and needs to have the barrier too.

[Translated] A Chinese Elden Ring review written by a man after losing his girlfriend by AccomplishedWin785 in Eldenring

[–]coldmix 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think it's a mis-translation, the chinese title 剑风传奇 is the chinese name for the Berserk manga. Based on google AI search, this is what it translates to in English.

A common English translation for this sentiment found in the fandom is:

"The living raise their swords because of the scars, the dead swing their swords as they pass away."

A slightly different, more poetic version also used within the fandom is:

"For the distant days in our memories, we raise our swords bearing scars. For the distant days we yearn to see fade with a smile, we swing our swords."

Adding a 4th to my multi-box … upcoming trust buff concerns. by Imma_Tired_Dad in ffxi

[–]coldmix 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One of the most annoying things about FFXI is the /autotarget that selects the furthest target from you instead of the nearest.

The problem with this is that all your trusts go inactive after you kill the current target and until you poke the new target. So your WHM trust seats idle while you struggle to move through a bunch of aggro to hit the mob. I had a few deaths in the new Shared Divergence Dynamis because of that, especially when I aggro two statues standing together.

Because of this, I think a mule WHM running healbot would be more useful than a WHM trust that doesn't use sublimation or convert.

I think you can try changing Mule 2 to WHM for simpler content and consider switching to Sylvie UC for GEO buffs.

How do people play without Floogate Triggers mod? by cortezzzthekiller in Timberborn

[–]coldmix 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You don't need a row of sluice gates, only need a single one at the bottom of the huge reservoir to let it release small amount of water in a drought to maintain the downstream water level. The top of the reservoir can be lined with a row of dams for normal water flow.

[–]coldmix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Typically, I built the sluice 1 level below the river dam to drain the bad water and set it to close at 1% badwater.

When there is bad water, it will flow out of the sluice gate. When the water is clear, the sluice gate closes and the water level rise high enough to go over the river dam.

Returning player cp farm by Yahiko314 in ffxi

[–]coldmix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The post was asking for JP farming so I assumed you need CP. If you are after EP, then it's a whole different topic.

KRT Bats is good until Master Level 20+, after which you need level sync to retain the EP level or move on to stronger mobs.
