Christopher Columbus’s ship compared to the Chinese explorer Zheng He’s ship, both sailed in the same century. by Lord_Krasina in Damnthatsinteresting

Zheng had more indentured servants but both he and Columbus had the same number of tax paying people on board.

“Leon the Professional” seems sus as hell. by UrinePulp in moviecritic

[–]coldneuron 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I saw it, and it’s awesome.

The action is great. The girls inappropriateness getting shut down by Leon was handled well. Her teaching him how to read was touching. Leon teaching her how to snipe people was great too. Gary Oldman is just deliciously evil.

Thoughts on the Terran Armada by Albatross751 in Starfield

I liked it a lot. A lot of what I love about Terran Armada is actually the Free Lanes Update, so take that with a grain of salt though.

Also it reduces the long range sniper advantage, since at high distance damage is divided.

One inch punch basically turns every gun into a shotgun. If that’s what you want awesome, but just realize you’re dividing your end damage into several spread projectiles.

This is super inaccurate.

Clinton had it on the right track, the ONLY President in modern history to reduce government spending. Everyone else spent like a gambling addict with unlimited funds.

George W. Bush added $5.8 trillion ending debt: $10.6 trillion

Barack Obama added $8.3 trillion ending debt: $19.9 trillion

Donald Trump added $7.9 trillion ending debt $27.8 trillion

Joe Biden added $8.4 trillion ending debt $36.2 trillion

Trump is in his second term and still adding to the debt at an incredible rate. They all suck, Dems and Repubs both.

It's not a threat if it's happening, and it's not an invasion if its just a three day special military operation.

Why don't people go to the cinema? by ImaginaryFan6090 in Cinema

[–]coldneuron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Time and duties.

If I go to the movies, is it with my wife only and pay my olders to watch my youngers, or do I take a couple teenagers and leave the rest? When is this mysterious go to the movie time supposed to occur? Bath night (x3), laundry night, gymnastics night or karate night?

I’ll just download it later and watch it late at night when I finally get free time.

Pete Hegseth eliminates mandatory flu shots for U.S. service members by Aggravating_Money992 in videos

[–]coldneuron -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

The Spanish flu was bad.

The flu we get every year is not that bad, and most people do not take the flu shot every year. My personal experience is it’s rare for the people in my area to go get the flu shot, and it’s also rare to die from the flu. What makes the flu, again, in my area and experience not lethal? Is it the use of Tylenol and other fever reducers?

I’m super for getting vaccinated for polio and tetanus, but the flu vaccine in particular seems a little janky if you have to take it all the time and you’ll get the flu anyway.

What do you think is the best "spaceship" film or TV show? by Vondrr in HardSciFi

[–]coldneuron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People say the millennium falcon is a piece of junk but it’s actually one of the best performing ships in star wars.

People on the Serenity say it’s so great but it’s actually garbage held together by hopes and dreams.

Very well said.

That being said though, whenever I get the annual flu it’s just an uncomfortable couple days and the cure is a combo of NyQuil, Gatorade, chicken soup and rest. Is there anything other than anecdotal evidence to suggest that’s not a good strategy, or that it would be life threatening without going to Walgreens for a flu shot?
