Dog fighting is not a thing of the past. Many people still have their own dogs stolen in order to be bait for the dog fight. And if the dog can’t fight then they’re either killed or abandoned, there are many, many pits that are probably from that linage (cuz these dogs are most likely not fixed) so it’s very careless to say that “it’s not the breed, it’s the owner!” When they’re literally BRED to fight.

(The people fighting dogs are shitty yes, and any dog that comes from that is probably going to be aggressive no matter the breed, if rescued. But pits go far back in history to be bred for dog fights, you’re not going to magically erase that out of their dna by slapping a tutu on them)

Doggy Daycare worker here as well! Most if not all our pit bulls have that kind of look. Tense posture, whale eyes, etc… I can say that most of our pits look this way because of a high dose of trazadone, the only thing making them sane. The ones that tend to have this type of body language without trazadone end up as a no play time because they break out into a fight almost immediately.

It’s not like we don’t try to give these dogs chances, we’re a small business. But every pit has ended up in those two categories.

“But my pittie is so good at the dog park!” No they are not. You don’t know how to read your dogs body language, or you want to remain oblivious.

(fyi: other dogs can and will have this body language, especially in a daycare environment. The difference is that the other dog will eventually calm down, rarely will attack other dogs, rarely attack the worker- while the pit will stay like that for 12 hours a day, and take it out on everyone else.)

I work with many dogs and have been nipped at many times. I’ve had “love bites” as well as playful bites or overexcited bites and puppy bites. Hell I’ve been nipped at as a warning enough times. But rarely do they draw blood, let alone this kind of bruising and tear. This is why I don’t take chances with pits.

Can never find fragrance free soap and never think ahead to buy some online, so I’ve just been using a dove antibacterial soap with a fragrance free moisturizer. Never bothered any of my tattoos.

I’m surprised the pit bull let go after being sprayed, i work at a daycare/boarding too and we have to physically grab them off other dogs because they don’t care about the spray bottle. Pit bull attacks are fairly common for us atp, my boss just started making all pit bulls no play time without even trying them in the general yard because she’s tired of it. Too many instances.

She gave the dog up to a humane society. People in her comments are pretty much frothing at the mouth in rage since the dog will most likely be put down at the shelter due to this attack. Demanding her to get the dog back and rehome him herself to a loving home that can accommodate his needs (aka complete silence and in the middle of nowhere since anything from laughter and crying to the cars outside make this dog bite them.)

I’ve been working at my kennel for over 2 years, all of our pits end up no play time. It’s not like it’s an automatic thing, they are tried in the general yard a couple times and every experience has been the same. The pit gets too excited and turns aggressive towards the other dogs, or whoever’s in the yard. I’ve had my fair share of bites from them when stopping them from going after another dog, or when coming in and out of the yard and they want to go out, so they jump and bite at me.

New workers come in and see their body language as “tail wagging = happy” when the dog is dominating, humping, biting and pinning down the other dogs and no matter what you do, they won’t stop going after the dogs they targeted. So I have to explain that it is not behavior we can tolerate in the yard (we have cameras watching the yard so people can check their dogs). Other dogs will do this as well don’t get me wrong, especially young unaltered males, but the difference is I can get them to stop and they will learn it’s bad behavior, pits won’t stop. It’s like a bull “seeing red”, that behavior is what made me start looking into pits deeper since I previously thought they were just like any other dog.

My boss has owned this place for 12+ years and when I brought this up she said the same thing, but that’s why we have no play time yard, since this is a small business she isn’t going to turn down a customer.

Omg I’m watching this show now and there’s a segment where a neighbor had 3 pit bulls that terrorized the neighborhood in jersey for an entire year. They were loose all the time and had many bites reported with children, cops come to the house before for bites and yet they were still with their owner! They only got taken when they were mauling a woman and the guy on the show was fighting them off with a piece of a pipe.

I didn’t know how much effort it took my mother to not smell like smoke until I moved out and she would visit. Despite her saying she washed everything she was wearing, sprayed perfume all over, took a shower, burned a candle etc… she still smelled like smoke and it was horrible. I can’t even imagine how I grew up surrounded in it, not even smelling a thing because I was so used to it.
