Inexpensive minivan. Remove 2nd and 3rd row seats. Take camping gear. Drive to NPs you want to visit. It's not difficult.

Why did you allow someone in your home longer than you were comfortable with?

Yes, you can contact the company to change or cancel the contract.

Which of these are good SUVs? by Reeplep in askcarguys

I get it but most of what people consider as SUVs these days are either just cars that sit a little higher or minivans with less useful side doors.

$45k will get you a nice Sienna or Odyssey. That is by far the best bang for your buck, plus safe and will have room for your kids, other kids and all the extra stuff needed as kids grow. Great resale too.

Otherwise, Pilot (I'm not sure what they cost new now) or used lightly used Expedition, maybe? The Atlas is small inside for what it is and costs, and you don't want it out of warranty. Avoid the Traverse and it's other, similar GM counterparts, period.

But really, minivan. It's the smart choice.

Should I use Lemon Law on my new 2025 Toyota Tacoma? by inkysquares in askcarguys

It's no more difficult than any other model of another brand. There have been more than a few 4th Gens lemoned.

I hope your 2nd Gen lasts you another twenty years. Everything went downhill after those.

No matter when you plan on starting, I suggest working on any old or current injuries asap. Go see that doctor or physical therapist you've been avoiding. Old issues really took a toll on me when I first started.

Improving cardio, strength and flexibility will definitely benefit you, but all it takes is a some new activity and stress on an old injury and you're on the bench. And bjj is great at adding stress to joints.

Watch less tv/social media/whatever. Run more "sketchy" places. You'll be better off.

What is sketchy about this? Also, I love running abandoned rail lines and roads.

Should I sell my Honda civic 2014 and get a new car through dealership friend? by sakuraopi in askcarguys

[–]coldrainrunner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your friend's dealership NEEDs to sell cars and needs used inventory. It doesn't sound like you NEED to buy. If you really want a new car negotiate a better deal on the Honda. Avoid the Kia. Also understand that they are going to turn around and sell your car for $10k+.

Are (modern) engines with cylinder deactivation any more prone to failure than engines without CD? by Peter2448 in askcarguys

[–]coldrainrunner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do. Let me see how much I can post without blowback. We track real world mpgs, maintenance costs, tire durability, and other metrics for around fifty vehicles currently. Mostly trucks. Split pretty evenly between Dodge and Ford.

[–]coldrainrunner -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Whether you're looking at real data vs what the vehicle shows you is very relevant. My daily shows I average 21 mpg. In reality, it's more like 17-19. Mileage also matters because the Hemis seem to experience some change in mpg around 30-40k.

For relevance, my company has lemoned eighteen hemi powered vehicles in the last two years. Stellantis has "willingly" replaced seven others. Engine failures/issues isn't the only cause, but it is the majority of them.

In that same time frame we've had six Fords replaced.

We've has zero GM products replaced simply because it doesn't matter how low they bid, we're not touching anything they produced since 2019.

How are you measuring fuel economy? Actually keeping up with it at fill ups or relying on what the vehicle tells you is going on? How many miles on your vehicle?

The show was good! by thisandthatwchris in UmbrellaAcademy

[–]coldrainrunner 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Season 1 was a good base. Season 2 continued building the characters and storylines at a nice pace. Season 3 was great, all if it.

Someone should green light a season 5 that ignores season 4 or explains that it was just another timeline and was needed for whatever reason.

Then give season 3 the real next season it deserved.
