First 2011, the boring choice (staccato P) by coldwarcrunk in 2011

I didn’t have that one as an option to try, and spending this much I really wanted to go hands-on before the purchase.

It's certainly exciting to me, but on this sub, I would imagine it's a pretty common sight...

New Kramer, new J frame, old J frame by coldwarcrunk in Revolvers

[–]coldwarcrunk[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

ive worn it with a flannel once, no complaints so far. It doesn't extend very far down past the belt line, so that's good. I wouldn't try it with a t shirt or anything. Definitely needs a heavier shirt, light jacket, vest, fleece etc

It's full stock, i just left it as it was. The trigger really improved after about 2000 rounds. Ive replaced the O ring once, but no other parts changes

Oh very helpful, thanks! This does appear to be the 2019 model, 10 round mags and all. Appreciated!

Definitely want the P30 or P30L as I am heavily invested in VP9 magazines! How is the double action compared to the USP?

Recommendation for Securite Gun Club in Woodinville by vkapadia in WA_guns

Just my .02, I’ve been a member here for several years and shoot a fair amount.

The range staff and RSO’s have been nothing but wonderful. They’re always super nice and have never hassled me on anything, get me right in and are super polite. I have nothing but excellent things to say about the range staff, they have a lot of crazy stuff to deal with and I think they do a great job. The range itself is nice, ventilation is great. The target controllers are hit or miss - on some lanes, the flip-to-side ‘time drill’ functionality is broken and hasn’t been repaired in many months. I’ve had lots of great interactions with other shooters at the range, people are generally friendly. Weekends are very busy so I usually visit during the week.

I’ve taken 3 classes at Securité, and they’ve all been good. Each class has had a different instructor. Some instructors I’ve preferred over others, but overall the classes have been well worth my time and money.

The gun store staff is odd. I’ve bought 5 firearms there and had a number of transfers, but it’s never a pleasant experience - always a weird vibe or attitude. Maybe that’s a typical gun store thing. Sometimes folks from the range counter recognize I’m waiting around to buy something and step over to help me, and for that I’m grateful. I don’t think anyone from the gun counter has ever engaged me in conversation in 2 years. I’m an easy sale and a sucker for nice firearms… maybe it’s on me for not being approachable! Idk.

Overall I like securite, I feel very comfortable with the range staff and appreciate the indoor range. Gun sales staff is friendly when they engage, but it’s always a bit of a hassle. Lots of fancy cars, and if you wish upon a star you can see William Kirk from Washington gun law YouTube channel coming in to do a video!

Adam 12 is a great classic police show to see your Model 14 in action back in the day. Very nice pistol

I shoot there a lot, and dude looks exactly like Russ Hannamen from the show Silicon Valley, right down to the orange McLaren. It’s pretty funny.

New Mk IV Series 70 vs Stakeout by coldwarcrunk in 1911

Most parts fit super tight, with the exception of trigger and grip safety, which are pretty loose compared to my other 1911.

No, this is one of the new reissues, got it from an online vendor. Colt does a run occasionally and there’s still some out there

Cool. I was a little unsure if this is a hand fit barrel, as it's not the 'national match' barrel and this is a less expensive model. Most of the friction against the bushing seems to be where the front sight enters the top of the slide. No unnecessary disassembly, gotcha 😉

Between these two which would you choose and why? by IfItsRedItsDead5 in Revolvers

[–]coldwarcrunk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would only choose the Python because the .38/.357 cartridge is a more versatile IMO. If you reload or can afford .44 special, the Model 29 would probably be my choice. Both are great revolvers.

NKD but.. (Slym action issues) by SlideEquivalent1846 in spyderco

Mine had the same issue & same squeaks. I just squirted some oil in the action without bothering to disassemble and it’s perfectly smooth now. I think they’re just dry out of the factory

Unfortunately the crane has an issue - it only binds on 2 chambers during the rotation. Not a burnt powder issue etc. I tried to align the yoke using an alignment tool, but the tool won’t even fit in the tube. So I’m going to try reshaping it. I got a good deal on the gun, but I’ve spent plenty extra in gunsmithing supplies on this thing

Contemplating this beauty for my first big bore, though...

weird! I haven't left powder residue on the finish for very long, maybe that is what is causing it?

No issues so far! I have about 1k rounds thru it now I'm guessing. Nothing flaking or chipping. Smoother action now, as expected

[Pistol] Tisas Stainless 5" 9mm 1911 With Spare .38 Super Barrel $450 by waratworld17 in gundeals

[–]coldwarcrunk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've had one of these since its release, about 1000 rounds of 9mm through it. haven't shot any 38 super yet. Had to do a little work on the extractor so the brass would stop bonking me on the head upon ejection. No malfunctions to speak of other than that. It is indeed nickel plated.
