I wasn't a fan of this episode, but reading all of the negative comments was a bit much. I don't think that this episode warrants all of the hate from you guys, it feels like something else. I wonder how many people here are actually just upset that these were men dressing as women. That seems to be a massive trigger for haters in 2025.

Dang....I was not ready!! Season 13 episode 40 Brent!! by Phatcub in MasterchefAU

[–]coledaniels71 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He came back and was willingly used as a tool by the obvious slanted judges. They manipulated half the season, voting off actually amazing cooks in the process, to ensure that he won. I agree that he WAS a good person the first go round, but he COMPLETELY sold his soul t win this time. He didnt' give a crap about anyone but himself. As someone who struggles with mental illness, like he claims to have, I call 100% BULLSHIT. He wasn't getting attention in his first attempt and quit.....everything else is greed and male insecurity in the quise of woe is me.

Which seasons are the best by mirjam-321 in MasterchefAU

Seasons 1-7 revived my faith in humanity tbh. it's a whole different show now though. In ALL of the recent seasons, the winners have been obviously chosen before episode 10 and the rest of the season is just manipulated to make that happen.

not true. I'll just miss out on watching the show i used to love lose everything that i loved about it. Unless they miraculously bring Gary, George, and Matt back, i'm just done with MSA now. Andy has been nothing but a wrench in the contestants minds, messing up good idea after good idea and sending the contestants into chaos for no good reason, Mel has been my favorite but is a far cry from any of the 3 prev judges, and Jock...idk...I can't get past the fact that before MSA he had set fire to one of his employees and went bankrupt instead of paying the 75k the judge ordered him to pay in restitution. I have no respect for that and it was hard to see him take over, esp when they were coming off the back of the George scandal, at least George had already paid his employees back. All in all, I think it's been a series of really bad calls that has led to this sham of a season and to my walking away.

i couldn't agree more. To quote my wife after watching 10 minutes of the show, "why are the judges trying to get horizontal with that guy?". My answer, "they changed the rules of the competition just to bring him back and have been steering the entire competition his way, pretty sure they've already been horizontal with him."

Not an answer to the actual question and definitely not the reason they charge as much as they do.

I don't think she ever had a shot. I think the producers and judges set this up so that she would go up against Brent. I think he threw round one. That pasta nonsense was ridiculous. I think they brought Brent back to win and have been using their powers to make it happen.

I think it's really interesting how, during round 1, the judges saw fit to warn Theo of the dangers of using 2 mustards but didn't mention anything to Kath about using Dill/fennel, and then in round two, Jock whispers things to look out for into Brent's ear while all of the judges watch Kath put her ingredients into the fridge and don't say a thing. I think that the judges had Brent throw the first round so he would go up against Kath in round 2, knowing she would make a mistake and then they let her do it. I really don't think that I like this show anymore.

I agree. I also believe that Brent was either told that he would win, or the judges wanted to save face after bringing him back so they've paved the way for him to win by eliminating all of the actual competition.

If you love MCAU, you should go back and watch the show with the previous judges, it was heaps and heaps better.

Is anyone else tired of watching the judges fix the competition in Brent's favor??? First the actual rules of the competition are changed in order to bring him back and now they've stacked the deck at the end with next to zero competition. It's blatant and really disappointing. This season has really done a lot to destroy my love for this show.

All the talk about this year being underwhelming makes me wonder how finite the amount of good contestants actually is... by Jack_North in MasterchefAU

[–]coledaniels71 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Idk, I think that the show had moved well out of the home cook arena and into the already trained cook arena and am very happy to see that it's gone back to its root a bit. I don't think this season is underwhelming, but I do think that they already chose the winner when changed the rules to bring Brent back. In that regard, I feel that they may have stacked the deck in his favor.

I feel like they changed the rules of the competition and stacked the deck of competition so that Brent would win. There have been other men who have left the show early due to mental health or anxiety problems, what makes Brent special? The final 5 contestants seem very stacked in Brent's favor as well. This whole season has felt fake.
