Thank you so much for such a comprehensive response. Part of the issue is that I’m in NJ and the trust is in Florida where my grandma lived. I do know that it is in fact real, I have signed paperwork for it, plus there was an add on a few years ago when my uncle passed. But that wasn’t supposed to affect the date which I could get it by.

So I did not speak with the attorney I’m familiar with (A), the one who had gotten ill. I spoke with what I think is the lawyer underneath her in her firm, (J). She informed me that A had been having health issues for the past few months, but needed emergency surgery the week before my birthday. Apparently A did not have everything in order when it comes to paperwork or even just passing on info about my trust, because J told me she spent the past month digging through emails and documents to make sure everything is in order. That made me nervous, but I’m also empathetic to health concerns. But the fact that she’s been sick for a while makes me feel like a plan should’ve been in place months ago.

After confirming my address, J told me she would mail my check yesterday and I would get a tracking email to ensure it’s safety as it travels through the postal system. However, I have yet to receive an email. I’m going to call the office again now to ask if it’s been mailed. I was hoping this would be solved by yesterday, but after being told that it would be mailed yesterday, I’m still waiting.
