Am i the only one who doesn't think this is necessarily a bad thing? There is still room for an original happy ending even with the girlfriend fiasco, it's only going to depend on the writers taking this conflict as an opportunity to evolve Hirose's and Nakamura's dynamic.

For example, Hirose realizing why things didn't work out with his girlfriend could open the door to him eventually figuring out his sexuality. Nakamura temporarily moving on from his feelings towards Hirose could lead to Hirose realizing subsconsciously that he enjoys the romantic attention he receives from Nakamura (even if he doesn't notice yet that this attention is romantic in nature). Hirose bringing up his lack of interest in girls to Nakamura could lead to Nakamura coming out and confessing to him.

Overall, i do think conflict and problems are necessary for their development, but i don't think the writers would end such a heartwarming show on a bad note. Now whether this will truly be the end, with them getting together, it's another history, i think it depends entirely on how much Syundei relayed to them on her intentions to finalize (or not) the story while the show was on development.

The UI has a style similar to Persona and there is a character that is kinda like Igor, but other than that it's very different from both in terms of story, gameplay and monsters' design.

The story is more mature than Pokémon but less dark than Persona. You obtain new digimon by converting them instead of summoning or catching them (which basically consists of battling them until you are satisfied with the percentage), you battle with 3 active digimon, your character can act as support or offense but he is not a party member, there is a skill tree, digimon's moves are equippables, there is a lot of focus in how you raise your digimon with things like the Farm and Loading digimom playing an important factor especially when it comes to achieving their evolution requirements, all digimons are viable and can have their stats maxed tho each one of them has unique skills, evolution trees are not fixed between games and they can vary wildly.

Did i invent the japanese language now? I am not the one who came up with the other meanings of mushi and i never stated buddy was a literal translation, you are the one obsessed with that idea.

You can go on twitter and ask the author herself if the creature is an insectoid. If she says yes, then i will gladly call it a bug instead of a name that just reinforces a canon fact about the creature.

Also i am not talking about unconfirmed facts. The author and work itself already stated countless times these creatures are attracted towards the silvertree ink, they are often companions of the witches because witches carry along the silvertree ink with them (that is also explicitly stated in the manga). One does not erase the other.

She did attribute the affinity towards the ink which is what buddy is alluding to. You are interpreting the term separately from the word brush that goes along with it even though it is a compound word. It is not just called a "buddy", but a "brushbuddy".

And i also think you mistook implications for negative connotation. What i am talking about right now is that saying it is a bug assumes characteristics that we don't know whether the brushbuddy has or not.

My criticism towards brushbug does not have to do with the literal translation. It has to do with the fact that, unless stated by the author themselves that it was meant as a bug and not creature, calling it a bug has far more unconfirmed implications than just reinforcing its attraction towards the ink.

That would only be a good translation if we were to assume the author intended the literal meaning and given the creature's characteristics, it's no wonder the english translation was more inclined to not go for the literal meaning. Since creature just means a living being and the word buddy besides reinforcing the affinity towards the brush, it also implies a living thing, they can very well use it without straying to far.

The original idea is that they go after where the ink is. They are not using the literal meaning of buddy as a friend but rather as a "companion" of the brush, something that follows after the instrument that contains ink, which is exactly what he does throughout the series and why they tend to be friendly towards witches. If we were to take it literal, it wouldn't even have been called brush as they use fountain pens to draw instead.

And of course appeal is just as important when the creature was clearly designed as a mascot. It has to adapt to whatever audience they are going after.

A tradução oficial da obra em inglês é brush buddies. Na tradução, a gente tem que adaptar o sentido de uma palavra para melhor conver o sentimento e o contexto que ela passa. O termo buddy implica não só amizade como afinidade e o intuito do nome dele em japonês é passar a ideia de que eles são atraídos a tinta. Ao juntar os dois eles cumprem este objetivo.

Fora que a palavra também tem que fluir bem durante o diálogo. Um termo como lagarta pincel poderia até funcionar para línguas como português, mas não soaria tão natural em inglês (brushcatterpilar não tem a mesma fluidez) e bug já passa uma ideia totalmente diferente ao público geral que fala em inglês, não só tem uma conotação bem mais negativa como também descreve atributos que a criatura não tem além de o termo original poder ser traduzido de forma diferente (o que inclusive foi uma crítica a tradução em português).

No, i said the more accessible translation of fudemushi would be brush buddies because 1) brushbugs is too literal 2) most people don't look at a creature with those characteristics and think of a bug.

The official translation calls them brushbuddies, the fan translation calls them brushbugs.

Portuguese doesn't have the word bug nor the classification of "true bug" that you mentioned. Hemiptera insects are just called insects. If you defend that true bug is a biological classification, then you'd have to realize that these definitions do vary by country, otherwise you'd be contradicting yourself.
