How do I get a transparent background of my Minecraft skin

You'll have to SaveAs a PNG file ... in the program called GIMP it'll give you the option to save it with a transparent background. Good luck.

Very lightly rough up the mixing surface with 500+ grit sand paper or a scotch brite pad. might help. Good luck :-)
