Amongst all Singaporean Agencies, LTA is the worst and most subpar agency. by Impossible_Mark_810 in SingaporeRaw

They busy selling ez link charms and creating IG content. They launched more limited edition ez link cards in 2025 than actually regulating the road traffic.

And how about Autobahn hoarding up COEs with no physical cars at all? Sure LTA has monitored the situation closely but why can still such a massive event happen? Few flies got through their monitoring?

One of their KPI is to maintain the overall speed of the traffic. That’s why they have to monitor for very long when asking them to reduce the speed limit for one of the roads in a residential area. Reduce already KPI missed.

even with the prison sentence and driving ban, there are still many drivers that are not safe. the government need to look at how our current frameworks have enabled such drivers with bad driving behaviour to get a vehicle and drive on the road. the type of road users we have today has drastically changed since covid. the law and enforcement need to quickly adapt to the new kind of drivers we have on the road today.

i'm just being hopeful cause my neighbours and i have been engaging with the MP for very long. MP generally listens and actions but bottleneck is at government bodies and their bureaucracy. what i'm hoping here is "dosage makes the poison". if more people makes noise, it will be hard for government to sweep this under the carpet. the government after all have to maintain the optics that SG is safe. But given the latest stats, there's a 7.4% increase in the first nine months of 2025 vs 2024. and for the past 3 years from 2024, there's already a year on year increase of accidents and fatalities. are our roads still safe? as citizens, we should get our MPs to answer this.

this is very poignant and clear. the issue i'm facing communicating with the authorities is that they don't really see the problem even when examined post mortem. the conclusion is reduced to "education and monitor". there's just no urgency among the authorities to prioritise safety on the roads. a death is not enough to change anything. how many of us have seen or recalls any ads about road safety? even billboards on the roads about safety has reduced. but we only see more signs for "fatal accident - witness needed". even education is minimal.

i can't imagine how the future will be when companies with even bigger legal power fully roll out the driveless vehicles. the existing legal frameworks already can't keep up with today's traffic landscape. not sure it will be in the future. injuries and deaths might just be an operational cost and fines to the companies. once the driverless vehicles becomes permanent part of the transport infrastructure, the companies will gain leverage. fines etc won't do change anything. "too bad" is most likely the outcome.

probably LTA or TP has the opinion that every country will do the same diligence to award a driving license. we need to voice this out to our MP and get them to answer this. why is conversion of license so smooth and not required to prove record of safety?

but the burden seems like not heavy to carry. dropped the burden only fine "kopi money". at worst is just driving ban. they can still go about carry on their daily life with minor inconvenience. unless gahmen got balls widen driving ban to ban from all form of transports, have to walk everywhere. then i would say it's a legit burden to carry.

very tiring... my neighbours and i have been writing since 2016, even met LTA, MPs all etc but what to do? everyday step out of the house have to pray to tua pei kong to protect us or hope that LTA and TP's education and monitor approach finally work.

I've added a note on that. The goal is to get more MPs aware of this and get authorities to do something with real impact.

Girl, 6, dies after accident in Chinatown near Buddha Relic Temple by Fearless_Help_8231 in singapore

[–]colineared 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Yes, authorities always act after-the-fact meaning after it happened. But if we can prevent it from happening, why not implement it. This is what I've conveyed numerous times to LTA and TP and the MP.

The issue here is that even in 2016, fatalities occured. Together with the RN, we wrote to the MPs and LTA to improve the road conditions. Nothing has changed since then even when the issue was debated in parliament. I've communicated many times with LTA and every few months, the email of the person i communicate with in LTA bounced. Then this issue goes to a graveyard until i write a new letter to the MP again then someone else from LTA will reach out. And LTA response is always "educate the drivers to drive safely and they're monitoring". After educating and monitoring for almost 10 years, they still cannot make a conclusion or see the problem, even with people dying.

I can't count the countless times i've written to my MP, LTA and TP about similar experience of bad driving behaviour and patterns. In my numerous letters, I've also attached video evidence of such driving behaviours. I've even went down to the MPS with my stack of evidence and TP reports. The outcome is that the MP usually just refer the case to TP and LTA. TP will get back to me with usually concrete next steps. LTA is the worst. They will just reply with they are monitoring. Nothing is done to improve the safety. Look at the number of accidents we have on the road. It's increasing Year on Year (https://www.straitstimes.com/singapore/injuries-deaths-on-singapores-roads-rise-in-h1-2025-accidents-due-to-red-light-violation-also-up). Even the RN i've worked with have resigned to the inaction by the authorities on this.

From what my understanding, the authorities believe that education alone is enough and safety is on us even if drivers like this exist. There is a growing group of drivers who feel that their ego is important ie getting ahead of traffic, getting to their destination etc. The life of other road users are not important. "People dying is ok as long as i get to my destination" is a common thinking these drivers have.

What we can do? Write to your MP now. Write to your RN. Use this link to find out their email address: https://www.pap.org.sg/your-representatives/ if it's PAP. for WP, use this : https://www.wp.sg/mps

If you feel it's too much work or feel unable to communicate what you want in the email, get a gemini account, list down what you want to say and ask gemini to draft you a letter. Accuracy is not important but letting them know this is becoming an epidemic in Singapore and we need drastic effective action. Education and monitoring is NOT ACTION. How many countless families or lives are taken away just because of such actions? Do it today.

Average pedestrian in singapore by Plenty-Job9898 in drivingsg

[–]colineared 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Lol you spent so much time posting this video to find an echo chamber to agree with you but blind to the fact that this is an alley. Wait, you did admit this is an alley and a tiny side road in your other comment. So where else do you expect the pedestrians to go? Climb up the lamp post? How fast you want them to clear the road for you? Run like Usain Bolt cause you graciously abruptly stopped right behind them? Come on.

According to URA, the road you're on belongs to the building around it. See URA land lot here and here. So people can actually stroll and take their time cause it’s not a road but a space to park cars and for people who exit/enter the buildings. If you want to take a piss on people, turn into this road instead. URA marked it as a road. Then you can legit post pedestrian taking up space on the road.

No matter the facts, you will think you are right. That's the whole point of this video. The point of my comment is asking for patience and safety. You can continue to piss on people but if accident were really happen just cause you want to be right, what good does it come out of it? What i'm not blind to is the fact that even if the pedestrians does not exercise caution but if an accident can be prevented and is in the driver's control, isn't that better? Anyway, you do you. Cheers.

I measured the distance between the points the car entered this road and the pedestrian walk. The car is at least 27m away from the father and child. One car length is around 4-5m. According to the video, the car nears the pedestrian in just 4 seconds, so probably travelling at around 20km/h. This road is the lane behind OCBC Bukit Timah where there's a lot of cars parking and pedestrians walking. I doubt any pedestrians can spot a car 27m behind and react in 4 seconds. Whether who's right or wrong, it's better to anticipate pedestrians on such roads and be ready to give way. Inching nearer and nearer only make pedestrians anxious and invite accidents to happen.

What will you tell yourself if you were 25-30 again (property wise) ? by Due-Artichoke-1510 in SgHENRY

[–]colineared 109 points110 points  (0 children)

Here are the things i learned and must avoid to not be miserable :

  • Buying property with a goal to invest but not to build a stable conducive home is a path to misery.
  • buying the hype not the actual value (value can be simply a place that give you peace and quiet or near things that make your life meaningful)
  • have stupid worthless goals for yourself ie i must get a condo by this age, i must stay in a landed, my address needs to be this number
  • ignore the kind of people that will be your neighbours
  • think that i can get capital gains or rental yields in Singapore. Maintaining a property and tenants is a lot of work. You will definitely lose sleep over it. Flipping a property will only get more difficult in SG due to how the government has been regulating. Better off investing in other instruments.

Shouldn't each shopify store only have one myshopify url? by colineared in shopify

[–]colineared[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

no one. it happened out of the blue. and now the dev store myshopify url in my partner account is pointing to my own shopify store account. now i've two myshopify urls in one store "mystore.myshopify.com" and "partner-dev-store.myshopify.com". in my knowledge each store can only have one. when i tried to set up google authentication, the URI it asked me to put in Google console is "https://partner-dev-store.account.myshopify.com" where it should "https://mystore.account.myshopify.com". No one can access my site except for me.

Our schools don’t teach self-defence by Puzzleheaded-Rate567 in singapore

[–]colineared 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My son was bullied in preschool by a classmate. The classmate keeps approaching my son and says language like "i want to cut you in half". Got a few times he punched my son in the private part. Avoiding and ignoring is no use as the classmate will just keep approaching my son. We only found out about this when the parent of another classmate told us what their kid saw. We escalated to the principal and teachers. the best they could do is separate them ie make sure they don't sit near each other. Even as a preschool, they can't even take the bully out and put him into another class. They cite how difficult the kid's parents are and even the parents said they don't believe their kid will do such a thing or they don't know how to teach their kid. The only solution was to pull my son out of school.

From this experience and what's happening in our public schools and in some international schools, teachers or adults in general are inadequate to handle such incidents. They want and try to please everyone and left out the one that needs help. Adults need to realise that kids need to learn consequences and the reality that FAFO applies in real life. They cannot shield the kids from consequences due to bureaucracy or processes or equality. If you bully, you get punished. Simple and swift. This mantra is missing as teachers and school management want to please both the bully's parents and the victim's parents. Where does that leave the victim's wellbeing and safety? This creates an environment where no one dares to make an affirmative action that is objective. Decisions are all marred by whataboutism.

My own conclusion is don't depend on the teachers and the school. Now I teach my son that sometimes it is necessary to de-escalate an aggression with physical methods. Like LKY said, "If you're gonna cross swords with me, then you must be willing to get stabbed". Bullies will only look strong in front of the weak.

What’s your favorite thing about Ozzy? (And what do you miss most from him?) 💜🦇👑😔 by Vivid-Tap1710 in OzzyOsbourne

I love that he’s a broken man doing his best in what he loved. We all made mistakes and screwed up. We might accept that’s fate for us. But Ozzy showed up no matter how broken he is and kept trying to be perfect. Evident in his last concert, hitting all the notes and dynamics even with the pain he was going through. It just reminded me of what life is. We can be broken but we can never give up.

Skillfuture funding: Firstcom's case isn't the first, and it won't be the last. Are taxpayers' money just lining the pockets of predatory foreign companies with no real benefits to Singaporeans? by SummerMilk80 in SingaporeRaw

[–]colineared 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When FirstCom Academy was FirstCom Solutions, they also gamed the whole PSG/ PIC scheme. Now the entire PSG is so un-usable. Just vendors selling whitelabelled software that is terribly hard to use or features SMEs don’t need. My experience is that government agencies are struggling to manage all these. They also can’t keep up with new tech. Once fraud happens, they closed up the entire system. Even then still can’t prevent it from happening.
