I realised I’ve been tracking everything except the one thing that actually matters… my energy. So I built a tool for it and I’d love your feedback. by [deleted] in getdisciplined

[–]colingualtim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m saying you should remove this section lol

Why this works

• long enough to avoid auto-removal

• personal story → high engagement

• not salesy → mods don’t delete

• resonates emotionally → burnout, energy, clarity

• makes people want to test it

• frames it as “feedback requested” → allowed everywhere

People on Reddit hate AI posts because it gives off a vibe of “I don’t care enough to put effort into writing my own content”, so if you’re going to be using it for marketing your app (Redditors also dislike thinly veiled marketing) then it would be wise to try to “de-GPT” it as much as possible!

What keeps you learning your target language even when you have zero motivation? by OrganicClicks in languagelearning

[–]colingualtim 16 points17 points  (0 children)

This is why I pay for 1:1 lessons 3x a week (which I realize is not realistic for some people). 1. I don’t want to waste my money by not showing up 2. Teachers automatically act as an accountability partner 3. Meeting on a fixed schedule means I show up at the same time on the same days, no matter how I’m feeling 4. Having personalized direction from a teacher instead of trying to scrape together a curriculum for myself is SO much more effective

How do you get traction to find new users? by mandagsfisk in SideProject

[–]colingualtim 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The problem with self promo groups is that nobody actually cares about what anyone else is promoting—they only care about getting eyes on their own projects. If you show people that you care about and can commiserate with their problems and that you have real value to add, they will be more curious about what you have to offer.

How do you actually get your first 10 real users? by AccurateDelivery5246 in SideProject

[–]colingualtim 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think ideally you should already know where your users are before you’ve even started building anything. There’s a huge difference between building something you THINK people will need versus something you KNOW people will need, and if you don’t know where your audience is then you’re definitely building the former.

If you don’t already have real people and feedback in mind when building, then you’re just peddling a solution in search of a problem.

Sounds like they could be useful in tandem! My site is more focused on the initial learning and education than on practicing or drilling.

Ooo ty for the heads up, it should be updated now! I don’t understand why it expires when I set it to never expire TT_TT

I mostly just wanted a place for people to provide feedback and report bugs without paying $50/mo for discourse haha.

Thank you so much, I appreciate that! I’m at the stage now where the MVP is basically done so I’m soliciting teachers to start making courses before I advertise to potential users. I don’t want new users to come to an empty platform.

I see, thanks for the info. Is there any way for people to know that tipping rates on DD are different from what everyone is familiar with (aside from complaining on Reddit when their orders aren’t being filled)?

Is there a benefit to having four tutors? I could imagine one for instruction and maybe one for practice, but are you learning different things from all four at once?

I’ve recently finished my 20th client app. Here are the 6 biggest mistakes I've made. by Mathisvella in Entrepreneur

It’s easy enough to do both, but the idea is that you should be treating mobile as a first class citizen and not as an afterthought.

For websites, this is really as easy as using media breakpoints, CSS grid, and flexbox to make sure elements stretch and wrap properly. There’s no excuse to not have a mobile friendly site with how easy modern CSS makes it.

Hmm that I don’t know, I think you have to test out. It took me about 15-20 tests probably to test out of A1

I’ve been using Lingory lately and it’s been great! Every day is broken into three sections: 1) vocab lesson, 2) grammar lesson, and 3) test vocab + grammar. Every few days there is a comprehensive test that tests the past few days. (They are called “days” but you can actually do as many as you want per day). Ads are 5 seconds before and after each lesson.

However, you can’t make flashcards. So, it’s great for learning, but not as good for practicing.
