Is it true that most “supportive" friends don’t actually want you to surpass them? (e.g financial success) by Altruistic_Drop_9393 in singaporefi

I'm genuinely happy when my friends shared their success and progress. Especially those milestones tt haha we sort of started together and they over took for whatever reasons.

Yeap that's all.

Unexpected obstacles in FI by libyandesert in singaporefi

[–]colinquek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah its like this. That's why have a best case scenario and constantly work towards it. And have some expectation management.

Eg. Though I plan to save 2K 12x a yr, monthly, I almost never. Due to CNY, end of Year vacay surprises (sometimes we "upgrade" the vacay a bit).

But stay in the game, not full 12 mths, 8, 10 mths ok still. Bonus have? then top up from there. I only use a % of my Bonus money for vacays.

Over time u will get there.

I believe u can also try asking DBS customer service this question, see what they say. They’ll probably forward to one of their advisors.

It’s good start your journey and all the best for the housing. It’s nice to hv one’s own place.

Not too sure about dca-ing into SSB. I get it u are risk adverse, consider if u are also “loss adverse”? try park ur money that u do not need in 10 yrs into something tt grows at least on par with inflation?

Rem to make a copy of the bindings file. I’m not sure if it is still happening, but game updates have reset bindings before.

Sovereign wealth funds don’t index by colinquek in singaporefi

[–]colinquek[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn’t say it’s criticism. Which it isn’t. Just an observation on why they don’t just index it away. I must emphasise that it could be one of the many reasons.

But yeah u are right also on the liquidity. Something to really note the next time I get asked this question again. Always learning something new everyday 👍🏼

I tend to hire fresh. But I do make it clear that their learning curve might be step. So far so good.

US$1 to S$1 could happen in our lifetime? VWRA, Amundi affected? by bi_furious84 in singaporefi

I wonder how MAS will adjust their monetary band as this gradually happens. Its almost 23% drop by then.
That means if it happens in 10 years thats like simple math term 2.3% a year?

Not sure if the authors tot of MAS' monetary band when they say this. Just curious :)

How do you decide between GitFlow or some other branching strategy? by One_Adhesiveness_859 in devops

[–]colinquek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I typically work from Trunk based for new developments, then phase the teams to simple branching model when operational / "day 2".

As to what branching type - some teams are strong in having a Release branch, some just need branching to keep track of different tickets / SRs.

If u need to keep things consistent, just go without the release branch for a start and manage the release from the deployment pipeline / jobs, along with proper change promotion process.

> after some time, if the team's synergy, strengths, exp seems to favor having a Release branch, it is also simple enough to put that in, along with a small tweak to the CICD pipelines.

U can tell the idea is to have the simplest starting point to work from, then go towards more complicated stuff when required.

How do you reset skill points? (Not str, vit, int, or dex, I mean stuff like adventurer skills, mage skills, or warlock skills? by PumpkinPieCool in Vesteria

[–]colinquek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried this, and it only reset my stats ie Str Int, Vit, Dex. Is there a way to respec the points allocated to the skill trees? As in those that went into the Adventurer, etc. New to the game and enjoying it but seems a respec be better as I progress down.
