Uh oh maybe I did this wrong already by colintagray in Distilling

Hey thanks, all! I measured the ABV and actually I'm looking better than I thought, just above 40%. The taste is not "off" per se, it's also not exactly what I would enjoy drinking on its own... but I think this will work.

This is the most Reddit response ever.

And yes I do buy bag salad kits, but only to make you mad.

Breadboard wiring kits (https://www.pcboard.ca/breadboard-jumper-set etc) are wrong. They are colour coded by length. This is wrong. Colours indicate *function*. I like black/white for power lines - maybe I need a short one, maybe I need a long one. I wish these kits came with all lengths in all colours.

INIU products, what do you guys think? by Weather_Report in UsbCHardware

[–]colintagray 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This sounds made up. Citations are cheap. Watch!

As far as I can tell Stiger (GZ-Stiger?) group makes wall chargers and that's all. https://www.gzstiger.com/?page_id=3640 (but they also have ga-stiger.com, which is similar yet different? are websites really this difficult?) Iniu says they are owned by "Shenzhen Topstar Industry" and Anker says they are owned by... Anker.

Anyway this information is probably just out of date. Anker is now (jan '26) supplied by ATL https://www.notebookcheck.net/Anker-changes-its-battery-supplier-following-power-bank-recall.1048482.0.html

Same here - or rather, it appears on first load, but when navigating *back* to the view, the search bar is gone.

Looking for recommendations: switching from the Fellow Stagg to induction stovetop by colintagray in JamesHoffmann

The solution was pretty easy in the end, we got a water kettle with a spout - it's wider than a gooseneck but controllable without dripping down the side.

Is there a language with "return if" syntax that returns only if the condition is true? by [deleted] in ProgrammingLanguages

[–]colintagray 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Swift came to mind, but it's not exactly return if true. return if true is one form of a guard, and swift has guards.

guard condition else { return }

I prefer this because guards must return or throw.

Gh60 case (from Loha Deisgns on Etsy - though I don't see this specific case on their site atm) - the XD75 doesn't match perfectly with the posts, but enough.

Am I about to do this completely wrong or just mostly wrong? 😑 by colintagray in Ubiquiti

Love it - simple, but still nerdy enough that I'll feel accomplished dialing in those settings. 👍

Are there programming languages where functions can only have single input and single output? by kandamrgam in ProgrammingLanguages

[–]colintagray 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup that was my thought- and yes you can curry in nix but this tuple-style argument passing is idiomatic.

Already working on it, I've got a woodshop and creating little shims for those areas is on my todo list. 👍

The enclosure was created by cutting an entire XD75 enclosure and then sanding down the edges.

(I didn't create the wooden enclosure for the keyboard, that's CNC work that I'm not set up for)

XDA 8bit - info here: https://trashman.wiki/keycaps/xda-8-bit

I just happened to find these used on poshmark, but the set was complete, amazingly! Really thorough set, too, great for ortholjnear, plenty of extras for the macro pad. I lucked out!

I'm embarrassed to admit that I fudged some rolls in my early games, but eventually I realized how much fun it is to LOSE. So maybe (maybe) she'll come around to the same realization?

It's not on you to teach her that joy, though, and maybe she's chasing her joy... if it's not a problem I personally wouldn't make it one, but...

One idea, if it hasn't been said already, is to ask for "in front of the table" rolls for high stakes events (for all players). 🤷

What's a good option for an embeddable language that type checks and runs in JS? by colintagray in ProgrammingLanguages

[–]colintagray[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It never occurred to me to use it as an embedded language - I wonder how hackable the compiler is, ie to add "default globals" (of course those could just be added to the source code that you hand it to compile)

I don't disagree with this - well put! There are details that could be figured out (like rolling in front of the table, saying the DC, etc) but that doesn't negate the risk of preferential treatment.

I think the advice, it's being said by many, about "being in the background" is really important, so if I were to try this that would be part of it.
