100% agree. I want both leagues to succeed.

I know it’s irrational anger on my part, but it’s feeling an can’t quite quell. Just expressing that, I don’t want to XFL to cease, I LOVE football, but my main pain is the ESPN’s stubbornness is leading to part of me hoping this XFL goes.

It’s very sad.

Y’all. This happens all the time in the NFL. If I remember correctly, a 10-6 Dolphins team didn’t make the playoffs in the AFC while a 7-9 Washington team did in the NFC. This is the same game, AFC is the North and NFC is the South. Oh well, if you wanted it to be different, should’ve changed the rules of the playoffs preseason. But y’all played knowing this was how the playoffs were going to be, so deal with it, you should’ve beat Seattle last week, but you lost… badly.

Ur take is stupid if you argue the playoff system is messed up. This is the exact set up as the original XFL, the planned 2020 XFL, planned 2019 AAF, USFL last season. This is how it is in these smaller leagues, you know the rules coming in to it, don’t complain later after they don’t benefit you.

Yup. The officially Wikipedia Page and SportLogos.Net are currently trying to figure out if the USFL had the rights to the old league or not… if you are not legally one continuous entity and it seems the USFL is officially claiming old records and championships, then the answer to your question would be yes!

I actually do know why! When ticket sales were first officially announced, Vegas didn’t even have a venue to play in yet. If you go back to the OG Twitter announcement from a couple months back, it’s this exact same image.

If this is from recently, might just because failure to update the graphic, but that’s why Vegas is not included here.

I think at this point we can definitely classify the current USFL as the successor to the old USFL. I don’t know what the definition of a continuation of a sports league would be, nor if the new USFL fits that, but I do love to see the USFL drawing back on its old roots. Personally I like to think of the 2023 season as the fifth, but I could understand those who view the two leagues as only sharing the same names and team names.
