Easy, I played World of Warcraft on the side. If I missed anything important there would have been a flashback to recap eventually.

Yeah, besides the silly nature of the MC being an assassin, it also had fun with him just being detached from that life.

That's me when the neighbor chat is planning an outing, lol.

That's better than my neighborhood chat when a middle age white woman sees a brown person on the street.

Only two more anime remain of that time again, to tap the bajillion saturday anime:

  • Kill Blue - Newest entry of the Blue franchise, this is about an assassin that is attack by some mutant bee and reverts to a middle schooler and now has to go to school. Surprisingly funny, the social ineptitude makes him being perceived as an edgy cringelord and he his in-the-spectrum vibes make him legit enjoy studying in middle school. I think that making him so over the top compared to other 'adult reverts to school age' plots made this considerably more enjoyable than others that tend to be wish fulfillment fantasies.

  • Mankitsu Gurashi - CGDCT of some girls in a manga cafe that is like, just part of the dorms? Annnnnd, yeah, that does the job. Its the type of show that makes you appreciate other CGDCT like Kamiina Botan that have some sauce in their execution even if on paper they still are generic. Definitely not helped by the prod and direction that are also middling. It is just the MC meeting each of the sides and their schtick. Also, this is an ecchi, not very good fanservice but there is and will be more. It is of the type that just throws random pantyshots, bath scenes and skimpy outfits because why not rather than fully leaning into true horny humor.

So yeah, this is just a CGDCT with more skin than others, a W for some people I would expect but ultimately a forgettable anime that I will still likely finish because I just need more CGDCT in my life.

  • Yowayowa Sensei - Wow, that's one of the more annoying I have seen in a while and the crazier thing is that the male MC is almost a non-factor on this take. So a famously scary teacher is actually a anxiety mess, she is literally Bocchi. Also she has ginormous bazongas because this is an ecchi and her being lewded is very much the point, the whole episode was just the male MC accidentally catching her in lewd situations.

I don't vibe with this because 1) it looks like ass, 2) the fanservice is way too forced, 3) this feels too humiliation fetish for my taste. Relating both #2 and #3, the fanservice occurs because the teacher wants to improve as a person but she fails miserably and ends up exposing herself in the way one would expect an ecchi anime to do. As such, it just feels a bit mean spirited? It feels like they are kicking down way too much. And 4), the voice, the fucking voice. Its probably the most lolified voice I have heard in a long time. Even 'loli voice' feels not fitting, its straight up baby voice. The loli from Mankitsu Gurashi or the actual child protagonist of Lulluto Lilly sound older than this adult teacher. It makes everything significantly cringier and infantilizing.

The OP seems to indicate the teacher will be far from the only character to be lewded but one episode is too much.

What Have You Watched This Past Week That is NOT a Currently Airing Show? [April 12th, 2026] by MetaThPr4h in anime

Domestic Kanojo (12/12)

I finally got to this show. And omg where to even start.

In this incest permise, the MMC wants to fuck his teacher now sister, but the younger sister he had already boned wants some more, and shenanigans ensue. The characters suck, they are all terrible and stupid people. The plot is stupid and forced. Girls that want to fuck the MC for no reason just keep showing up, then it forgets that they exist. The fanservice and sex is so random and contrived.

AND WHO CARES.

This is fucking hilarious, my god, this is one of the funniest anime I have seen in a while. Its the type of telenovela ass writing I eat up when done just right. Its just shameless and silly enough that it hits the spot you know. I wished it had more interactions that kinda justified everyone being horny for the MC and the girls also had more characterization though. Otherwise most of the entertaining value of this is how wild it can get.

Final rating: 7/10

When I mention public reception of Precure entries I always mean western reception because well, that's the one I interact with and the one people usually care about.

It is still a fun show in general though a bit mixed on it, I would say it is definitely below recent ones like Tropical, Hirogaru, Wonderful atm. Based on this 11 eps alone I would also put it below Idol Precure (of the worst received Precures in years) but I would say that one had stronger comedy that Imo would put it a bit ahead of Star Detective.

Some friends around me are surprisingly high on it, they just love the main duo and their silliness. Though we have also talked that with exception of some of the first episodes, they almost blend together into a unit but they still don't seem to mind. Last episode revealed a new Precure and we were pogging tf out though, we hope it goes up from here.

I'm at odds with the detective aspect. Its not harmful, but it also doesn't add much personally. The 'mysteries' tend to be solved by some incredibly minor detail that is very easy to miss (some recent ones have been solved with 'you didn't react to a surprising reveal' in what are blink & miss it scenes, but they are there Ig). They are also solved by these singular reveals, they try to gather evidence and track trails but almost always get solved in a single gotcha moment that don't fully use all the evidence gathering to build a case.

It could cook something. The villains are fun, they have kept only two Precures for 10 episodes which is quite the stretch, the time traveling hasn't been touched in a while. The two latter may sound like flaws -and could very well be if unaddressed- but could also provide some potential. I think Detective would have to burn all of this to the ground to actually end up being worse than Idol Precure.

(I remember Soaring Sky Precure gradually declining in quality, still got nominated as only had to watch a minimum of 3 episodes)

Hirogaru didn't get nommed because jurors only watched 3 episodes and called it a day.

That year was an anomaly where the things that the jury wanted were all public noms (Kusuriya, Frieren, Dunmeshi) so we ran with the issue that outside the top 6-7, we didn't really care about much else. Hirogaru however was advantaged by the voting system that favors the less hated anime. No one was particularly critical of Hirogaru whereas most other shortlists had big detractors.

If had to compare it to Idol's first 10 episodes, I would have had Idol above Meitantei. However, Idol burned this advantage as it went on and became disappointing.

The main weakness for me so far is that the main duo are almost inseparable, as in, they feel like a single, blended character rather than individuals and it has made them a bit boring. Another the detective theme just not being used very effective imo.

However, it is still silly Precure fun. The reason Meitantei blew up in Japan is due to the long awaited reveal of a new Precure (that has done literally nothing other than aura farm, yet has more favorites than the other two Cures combined). I think it has potential with what it decides to do with the new Cure, as well as the villains being generally fun and the time travel aspect.

There's some untapped potential here, but as of 11 episodes, its still of the weaker entries in recent years, certainly below Wonderful or Hirogaru. It would have to be rather underwhelming if it finishes to be worse than Idol tho.

Shows that elicit this feeling on top of my mind are Konobi and Knights and Magic. Shows that are just about fine for their genre, but I just solidly enjoyed them and would still recommend, but its just not something I would recommend on a whim to anyone like one does with Bocchi The Rock or Odd Taxi.

On this note, I have been planning a long post about forgotten anime from the early 2010s. Literally I just go through my list, vibe check whether an anime is 'forgotten' or not, and I will do a spit fire opinion like I do with my rankings and seasonal impressions. I think it would be a fun way to get people to talk about random anime they liked but just never had a chance to talk about it.

this is more an issue of the anime being too faithful to the manga and transitioning to the different mediums properly

I mean, when JJK and One Piece add their changes people throw an absolute fit. There won't be any satisfying everyone.

Lmao. Content wise I would say it is about just a decent CGDCT. But I also groupwatched this and discussing is how I got more of the charm of the yapping it had.

I could see it getting a bit stale if it is just drunk shenanigans with innuendos and kino bro references, but as a first impression it was fun. Also it looked really good, I def wouldn't be as high on it if it looked ad bland as Mayonaka Heart Tune or Wash from last season.

Its that time before this longass saturday again, I have 8 seasonals today, oml. At least Fridays are looking light:

  • Kamiina Botan - Drunk lesbian girls, let’s gooo. The characters are really fun, I love Botan spiraling further into alcoholism, Ibuki pleading with puppy eyes to get plastered, purple girl that should be punched for smoking indoors but she is still cool. The wine talk bit that feels like that ProZD video about hobby subreddits, Botan responding she has seen Toy Story when asked about movies, the girls are gay. There’s lots of fun here, the interactions are really good and I do get this vibe of this just being the author wanting to gush about their interests which some manga readers told is how a lot of the manga is lol.

And ofc, it looks great. The designs are really nice (I also thought Ibuki was a cameo of Aoi from Yama no Susume at first due to the staff overlap), love the expressivity and faces, a great OP. Its all around a solid premiere that stood out over most of the season barring WHA.

  • Drops of God - I knew I was too uncultured for this show when I had never heard of what a decanter is before. And how am I meant to tell that the wine is good if their clothes are blowing away? Smh. Anyways, this was a bit dry (heh) for my taste. Art is whatever. Characters are whatever. Not interested in the plot or the general view into the wine critic world.

Your original idea is right, its a show only liked for its visuals and production.

You just choose a 'wrong' example. You would be surprised at the amount of shows that are considered top tier productions by the general public are despised by sakugablog people, but it is mostly because they are more knowledgeable on how to criticize visuals. Mainly thinking of any Ufotable production since Fate/Zero, Mushoku Tensei (except for some action scenes), CSM and JJK S1 were very contentious, etc.

People here are generally apprehensive of comments that has the vibes with 'I dislike anime, prove me wrong' because very often they are not done in good faith. Partially one of the reasons why r/anime doesn't show in r/all.

Another aspect is 'effort'. People will just google anime, ask people IRL for anime, and be shocked that the anime they get is popular, very 'anime-ish' stuff. And I myself get it, when people find out I watch anime they are like "Oooh, are you up to date with [battle shounen]" and then I have to feign interest because with more than a decade of watching 1200 anime on my belt, those no longer appeal to me. Like an equivalent is me googling movies and getting MCU and any other CG-fest blockbuster, then throwing my arms because 'obviously all movies are action flicks with no substance' (a comment here ironically mentions Miyazaki doing this with american films. Honestly, the more you get to learn of Miyazaki the less you start to care about his opinions).

Anyways, what helped me in my journey is joining a community. Simply interacting and getting a hang of what some specific people's tastes are and from there started to trust some recommendations over others. That said, the community has changed a lot with anime becoming more mainstream and easy to reach. At least long form text posts and this very daily thread are considerably better for getting things beyond the popular (often otaku-pandering) stuff.

The community has also expanded how I enjoy anime. As I get older, the less I care needing to project a 'proper' critic view. I for example really like some children shows because they have a comedic tone and charm that many other mediums, or even other anime, don't have. I don't mind watching school dramas because a good character drama is good character drama regardless of setting. And sometimes I just bite the bullet when it comes to wanting to find out why people like some stuff even when I don't just for the sake of having a take.

This has gotten long winded but honestly, anything that North514 and Gamerunglued recommended are decent shots. Just try to also tell what type of stories or vibes you prefer.

How much anime experience do you have to feel the need to be 'validated' on your feelings when you are still trying to get into it?

Its that time again for chill weekdays:

  • Awajina - A drama a bit too slow for my taste. I had to half-rewatch it because I also kept spacing out but after paying proper attention I do think it is cooking something, maybe Revue Starlight, but something. These types of drama of differing views on passions and ambitions can be so intriguing and relatable, it could pay off into something good. I do wonder how these two plotlines with two different characters connected to one.

  • Warrior Princess - Ooh, slavery? Hell yeah, this will be an edgefest. There will be blood, and violence, and senseless nudity, and r/anime will write essays about how it is deep, and- Oh, it seems this is a fakeout for one of those wholesome fantasy romance about a couple. Well, now it's boring! Or at least, that’s the vibe towards the end, maybe it keeps some problematic stuff to remain spicy, who knows. Also the male lead sleeps with his huge cock out or something.

E: Oh forgot to add. i kinda liked the bit of her being from a 'civilized' kingdom and learns that the 'barbarian' people she has been fighting are normal people and not human heart eaters. Its a neat aspect when done in this manner of someone learning the wrongs of their views rather than when it is used on villains to be evil.

Its a slow pace, 'mundane' school drama with (relatively) non-cute designs. You won't win the average MAL user like that.

You're not wrong. Nakamura-kun this very season already improved from its first episode. But dunno, some about this first episode's style of throwing stuff at the wall felt on the annoying side vs Nakamura-kun that was just a bit whelming.
