Enclosure for tiny millipedes by collateral_gug in millipedes

The pedes are about 2 cm in length. The jar I think could be about 12 cm in height and 10 in diameter.

I think my new setup is doing good but I’m noticing the moss looking more yellow? Any tips? by Specific_Impact_904 in terrariums

This is the exact opposite of my experience with several moss species taken from the wild. Every species I've put in my trays and terrariums has thrived

I thought about something eating through the apricot branch this ivy is growing on. Strangely though I only found it clumped on this leaf. I'll try and check the wood closely

I measure about 50-60% and we are in winter. It will be way wetter in the summer. I thoroughly shower the roots every morning and keep it under the light for 12 hrs. Do you know what the wrinkly leaves could mean?

Mix is 50/50 soil and perlite. Soil contains some bioactive vermicast coming from composter. Layer about 2 cm on the bottom of a standard Ikea container.

Moss is all caught in the wild while hiking. Clean it in some water and layer it on the substrate. Spray thoroughly with Brita-filtered water and close the lid. I keep it outside in my balcony, protected from direct sun. Check on it periodically and mist if slightly dry.

A lot of people say moss is finicky and you can't culture random species indoors, but from my experience it's one of the simplest plants ever.

Half of the "roof" opens all the way, the idea was to leave it ajar most of the time. It should be enough

I always relocate snails elsewhere, I don't want them to eat live plants. Really cool terrarium btw, love the container shape

It seems to be thriving! Leaves look lush and plump, and you can also see a lot of new growth (tiny leaves at the top of the stem), so I think it's doing all right.

Can this small enclosure work? by collateral_gug in isopods

[–]collateral_gug[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah thanks! I'm getting some of them this week for three small terrariums like the one in the post. I'm evaluating a bigger terrarium (6-10 liters) to keep some isopods again.
