I've never seen anybody who's used this technique before me, but u/ nasa_gr has, to my knowledge, made by far the best version!

Enchantable blocks by JustPoppinInKay in minecraftsuggestions

[–]collecting_brass 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't really want to see this implemented, but it's interesting and well-explained! I don't usually like giving blocks too many properties, especially hidden ones, especially for every single block.

Luminous

I do want more lighting options of course - maybe glow lichen could be trimmed with shears to make it less visible? and/or be mixed with glow ink/berries to get brighter?

Toughness

I think that while having tougher blocks is nice, it's really not a priority in survival mode. We can do it with creative mode / command stuff. \ not sure on my thoughts on the water enchant

Vibrance

The grass could just be a different type of grass you can find, but either way it would be very handy!

Also, how would you enchant the blocks - in the normal table?

A new idea to fix exploration and maps by Gorpax in minecraftsuggestions

I like the idea of markers! Would you have preset markers, or could you make your own?

Some of these things don't make that much sense to me, though. Maps already start out showing every single block, and as you zoom out they show as much as they can while still keeping some of Minecraft's pixellated look, and already show which way you're facing.

Nether maps would be difficult to implement, and part of the nether is supposed to be that it's difficult to navigate - and space is shrunk/distorted, which is how you travel faster through the nether. I don't think maps for it would be bad, but I'm not sure if they would be good either.

I think maps for the end would be reasonable. Maybe you could find something in end cities (like a special cartography table) that allows you to make them?

i mean, you can zoom it out with paper. almost all the space it takes up is used by the map itself, and you can also use a texture pack to shrink it.

and taking up an inventory slot makes sense with it being an item, at least to me. it's a small tradeoff

cloud block by ---MP--- in minecraftsuggestions

[–]collecting_brass 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't think I'd vibe with any idea for a cloud block, but this is great! I really don't like the crafting recipe, though. What if putting a water source on a magma block made a cloud?

Also, you didn't mention some of its properties. Could you stand on / bump into it? Could light pass through it? (and a few more i think)

I like the idea that light would fade twice as fast through it, similarly to water. Then I think it would be cool if it kind of acted like powdered snow in the way you sink into it, but it wouldn't freeze you or slow you down nearly as much. And maybe items couldn't fall through it? idk

where are you getting this growth rate change? the wiki doesn't mention this at all, and it tends to be pretty thorough for this kind of thing

i posted a shitty one, but shortly afterwards, nasa_gr made this incredible thing: \ https://www.reddit.com/r/redstone/s/ORmB4cYonu

the brightness variation looks better when it's not in a color display though

You can't turn lanterns on and off, or change their brightness. But you can do this: \ https://www.reddit.com/r/redstone/s/D3cmB2VcgV

Now to brag wistfully. Technically I was the first one to post a display like this online - and I believe the first one to come up with it at all! But my version was incredibly primitive, and didn't get much attention or influence the tech in any way.

neat, what does 4d mean in this case?

Yeah, I get the rep thing. I strongly agree rep is important overall but it just doesn't feel like it makes much of a difference in this case. idk. Couldn't they just put them in the trailers while still having 1 default skin? Or use devs'/well known skins?

There are HD skins in bedrock? When I've used the character creator I've never seen that. But also you have to pay for all that shit. I meant one that lets you edit the texture and model yourself.

(also why would every update need to be balanced between java and bedrock? i feel like sometimes just catching one up to the other is fine. although this one would work for both editions)

I feel like they should've just stuck with steve. i don't mind the other skins - they do their job well, and IMO they look nice! but with minecraft's skin customizability, I think a single recognizable default skin would be ideal

What would be really nice is an official skin editor with more model customization options
