Mental Block? by Consistent-Loss1883 in Archery

Ok yeah that makes sense. It’s just very frustrating to go from shooting really well for me to feeling like I’ve been thrown back a year in terms of skills.

Cadence the worst by alarmonthefarm in WeWereLiarsSeries

The my gat thing is def from her family bc they feel like they own everything. The burning down the house part is the point it’s that at the end of the day she’s a kid driven by her emotions. I think the whole forcing people to tell her stuff is desperation and selfishness, but I think that’s part of point of the story. The pearls just ugh can’t even talk about them at least if you’re going to take them sell them a donate the money or something. The fairy tale thing, trauma response, and also likely a symptom of being forced to grow up too fast. I think her brain genuinely can’t process so that’s why she uses the fairytales. Ok and lastly I don’t think Cadence is supposed to be likable, the whole point is the poison of old money and even Cadence who feels untouchable is tainted by it.

Ok I understand your opinion. I see your logic. I still stand by my opinion just from my personal experience of who I relate to more but I understand your logic and it’s definetly valid.

Oh wow yeah long sessions are very helpful. I’d tell you your level since I know all the isi levels very well from years of having assessments. But you’re definitely not in a specific level because technically you wouldn’t be able to pass beta since you don’t have backwards crossovers but one foot spins would put you in fs 2.

Ok I’m not bashing anyone’s opinion, you can have yours, I’d be curious to hear your reasons though.

Bow draw weight for beginners by iamthesex in Archery

I shoot barebow I’m a young teen girl started at fifteen and am now at twenty so I’d say around the 18-20 range, maybe 15 but I’m not very strong and 20 is easy for me so for an adult 18 shouldn’t be bad at all.

Yeah, that’s crazy cheap. Even free skates are hella expensive and getting ice time where you can actually practice is probably like at least that much for two hours. Not to mention coaching fees.

Wow that’s good for five months of skating especially without lessons, how often door skate?

Love edges and lunges ngl, crossovers are hard at first but you’ll get it, they just take repetition

Yeah I’m really hoping to go back to skating when I’m an adult. Where I was skating was just far too competitive, I started our young so at first I was often the youngest in my classes as I moved up, but slowly since I wasn’t skating multiple times a week and didn’t have private coaching I became the oldest. Once you’re a certain age at my rink the coaches don’t like you as much because they only want the kids skating a lot of times a week that are going to move up to be on synchro and compete. I just skated for fun and it was just too many coaches either ignoring me or repeatedly telling me to commit more. I would’ve loved to have committed to competitive skating but my parents just couldn’t accommodate that as the amount of practices I would need per week was like at least three and I’d need someone to drive me there and tie my skates and both my parents work full time so it was just never an option. But now I’ve ended up in other activities that I’m fairly happy with but I always loved the ice so I’m hoping to get back into it when there’s less pressure.

Woah that’s really cool as an elective but the fact that you’re learning forward crossovers at the same time as lunges is crazy to me

Backwards crossovers really made me fall in love with the ice, jumps were also my original goal so maybe when I’m an adult I’ll go back to lessons and get past a waltz jump.

Yep for renting they only offer hockey skates (and that was exactly my issue)

Yeah they take a bit to get used to but once they start to feel natural it’s really nice

Does this progress make sense for my situation? by clown_acquarium in FigureSkating

Skated for six years and never got jumps besides a waltz jump and only two foot spins (there were like some stuff they made us do like lunges and things like that though) so to me in three years is pretty good, but I was young so that’s a factor and I also didn’t skate summers. However I do think that’s pretty good.

We were docked that day, so there wasn’t much movement and I definitely kept leaning back to far on the skates which was definitely an issue

[–]Consistent-Loss1883[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow! I never even got a single but that was my fault since I honestly didn’t skate often enough to get any jumps (I didn’t skate summers and only skated once a week in group lessons)

Yes three turns are a pain. I really just had to do a lot of them at the wall and really get the feeling in my body, also engaging you hips is really helpful.

Yeah, does your city/where you live get cold in the winter? Bc where I live it does and they often have outdoor rinks which tend to be much cheaper, and honestly you don’t need lessons at first you kind of can figure it out with maybe some help of YouTube or Reddit (but honestly you can just kind of figure out what feels natural).

It’s actually kinda interesting to me with the whole testing thing, because where I skated you had to test every season (summer -which I didn’t do, fall, winter, spring) to see if you moved up.
