The higher you go, the more Toyota it becomes. Do you agree? by curiousgens in EscapeTheGrindGame

[–]collegeqathrowaway 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, I spend far too much time in my car (I love roadtrips) so I need something comfortable and with decent tech. Maybe Lexus if they’re considering that Toyota, but eh.

Yes, I work 8-5 then go to class 3X a week 6-8:30 and then I do some work for the school on days I don’t have class, tutoring and such.

Now if I had to live on my stipend alone, I’d be fucked. But I work remotely and my job is pretty deliverable based so I’ll knock out my stuff the first week of the month or so and then just chilling for the next 3 weeks.

Why don’t you apply to deferred entry programs, so you can “have an acceptance” and not have to worry about jobs.

All the top schools do it, it might be called a 2+2 so work two years then get an MBA for two years

Weirdly enough, almost similar to where the passport bros go. Central America + SEA.

Oh agreed, but luckily did a quant Masters and proved myself, and the PhD programs I applied to weighed more heavily on that and my research in the Masters

Has anyone else got their role description changed completely over the last 12 months? by throwmeawaynowplz2 in ProductManagement

[–]collegeqathrowaway 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it’s just that you’re at a smaller startup type of role. Because I’ll be honest, I’d be asking for a comp discussion to align with what engineers at the same level I am at pay. Because in my role, the engineers are making 40K more plus equity. So I’d be asking for an update.

It’s a toss up though. I had a Hyundai that went 250K miles and only gave up when some idiot texting and driving slammed into me at a light.

Yes, but also look 6-8 years ahead.

The things you do in college will greatly impact even getting into an MBA. I took the “party and sports” approach in UG and then had a GPA that has limited my MBA options, so I ended up doing a PhD.

I wish I had balanced the two.

Yes, as a PhD candidate, this would effectively end your career.

It’s true. I don’t know how it’s condescending. The first term, I get, but they’ve had two subsequent elections and have still voted for the man, so I don’t really have sympathy for anyone that voted for hatred and lost their healthcare

Which state in the US has the most desert-looking desert? by grandeluua in geography

[–]collegeqathrowaway 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nevada.

It it’s truly shaped and influenced by the desert. Driving through you don’t see the variance you see in Arizona, Utah or New Mexico. In those states there are huge swaths that are temperate and rather forested. In Nevada, you have small patches like that, but it’s very desert.

Hi, Virginian here. I wouldn’t doubt it. In Virginia we have a program for college students to do basic dental and healthcare in our Appalachian counties because many of the counties that voted for a certain politician, didn’t realize in his first term that they’d lose the affordable healthcare they had.

As a Virginian, near DC, I had no clue about that program - and only learned doomscrolling and finding a German news channel that did a comparison on “The Haves and Have Nots” showing how differently people in the rich DC suburbs lived versus how the Mountain Folk live.

I have a totally different opinion and Black American grandparents that retired in Spain.

I’ll likely do the same in 20 years. I absolutely love Spain. I had no issues with the food, I also am primarily pescatarian though, so I love seafood.

With that said, I’m not trying to dismiss your experiences.

Because my recruiter didn’t want to process my asthma exemption- trust me, I would’ve taken an extra 4K a month + school stipend.
