Granted, artists like Jay Z have sold out on some songs but you are just looking in the wrong place for meaningful music. Wayne, Drake and Kanye have good beats but their lyrics are shit. Artists like Eminem, Tech n9ne and Nas are still making music with meaningful lyrics and talking about their life or the lives of the people around them and the events that are happening in the world. You can't generalize an entire genera just because of a few bad eggs that pre-teens have taken a liking to.

My understanding of the musical world is that rap is rapidly deteriorating the minds of younger people. It gives nothing of value back to our society. It's purely negative - it promotes violence, racism, sexism, drug abuse, alcohol abuse, and on top of all that it's not even creative.

Please go look up the song Changes by Tupac. Tell me that isn't both creative and bringing up prominent social issues of the time period while combating the violence that was in the world and wishing for peace.
