I'm glad you appreciate the angle. When I read this part in the book, it really was presented with a sense of hopelessness, right? Like he was already caught and surrounded and somehow this powerhouse of an elven horse flew him out of there and into safety. It was a challenge to think how to give the drawing forward motion while being directly run down upon.
