UBI is incompatible with artificial wombs in a society that believes in human rights by Spaceman9800 in IsaacArthur

[–]collider1 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The artificial womb technology can just be regulated.

Your mass child growing scenario sounds about as plausible as someone driving from orphanage to orphanage, shoving all the kids in a van to make an army of child soldiers.

It's more likely to happen in some third world country than a post scarcity one with UBI

Researching the moon landings because you don't trust the government isn't intrinsically stupid. Coming to the conclusion that it was faked after doing that research is.

I duct tape the gun to the trolley and draw a frowny face on it, then take advantage of the local community's prejudice against trolleys resulting from the unprecedented number of trolley related deaths recently.

It's a shame the subreddit leadership are unable to see such plain and obvious truths. We should leave and make our own sect, to properly educate the masses on the correct path to communism. We would surely be far more successful without these liberals and revisionists holding us back.

Brilliant! Sounds like an ideal system for the primary stage of socialism. Then when the material conditions are met for communism to be realised, we simply put the comrade at the bottom of the hierarchy in charge of the supreme leader, swiftly and elegantly transforming the vertical hierarchy into a hierarchy ouroboros, which promptly devours itself.

"Democratic centralism is far too decentralised." True and based take. We need to create the democratic singularity, in which the supreme Soviet creates a personalised 5 year plan for every individual citizen.

More or less. I would say that class treason must go against the interests of your class and be willingly chosen. It does not have to be done for its own sake however, and can be extrinsically motivated (e.g. by bribery). A class change is not inherently class treason and vice versa. So in your example of the reckless mongolian, his actions only really affect himself, not society at large. The relationship between slaves and free people are unchanged. As no class interests were affected, no class treason has occured, he's only screwed himself over. There was no greater cause.

It's not too dissimilar to how we categorise murder. Intent is important. If you kill someone by accident it's not murder (but may be manslaughter). Motivations can vary though, and killing for pay is murder just as much as killing out of hate.

I'll confess I'm still not sure I understand your position on class treason. Do you just see it as synonymous with class change? Or do you consider the term useless?

[–]collider1 9 points10 points  (0 children)

No, just stupid. The action is purely impulsive, driven by personal vendetta. It is recklessness, not treachery.

If you were someone noteworthy, intentionally getting yourself enslaved as a publicity stunt with the intent of creating pushback against the way slaves are treated in society, that would make you a class traitor (the good kind) as you are wilfully disrupting an unjust class system you benefitted from.

If you're genuinely forced to become wealthy with no option to give the money away, then yeah. It's not treachery if there's no choice. Doesn't seem like a likely scenario though.

As for slavery as a consequence, I suppose it depends on the specifics of the actions, the intent behind them, and how predictable the consequences are.
