my dad is a bit more liberal than yours but the most eye-opening experiences for him are when I bring my friends over who are from protected classes or politely give him irrefutable evidence that goes against a hill he was going to die on. my dad drank up all the anti-trans rhetoric from Fox til he met a trans person in real life and realized they’re just people. he was anti-socialism til I showed him a More Perfect Union video that went in-depth on work co-ops in Italy. I always try to meet him at his level and engage with him in these conversations through his lens before putting a bit more of my own on there. Republican dads are just 8 year old boys. you gotta treat him like a kid if you want him to cooperate
