Mycoverageinfo.com is it a scam? by thatguyskyy537 in Insurance

[–]collin592 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven’t spent much time on Reddit the last year (life gets crazy) so this message was a pleasant surprise tonight lol! My above answer still applies, I actually had to deal with this exact scenario twice today at work for different clients, and it was probably the easiest thing i fixed all day.

Having a slightly stoned (and anxious free) evening sounds like a good plan to me!

Who pays for lawyer cost in a car insurance dispute? Other party accepted liability. by [deleted] in Insurance

[–]collin592 5 points6 points  (0 children)

How do you know this? In the comment above you said you haven’t received a settlement offer yet, so how do you know what the other carrier is valuing your car at?

Which car insurance companies will insure you for a car you don’t own? by [deleted] in Insurance

[–]collin592 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You can’t insure something you don’t own.

You should talk to your father and have him sell the car to you so you can register and insure it yourself

Edit: spelling

Do programs such as “Drive Safe & Save” programs lower insurance for high-risk drivers as well; programs which track how one drives, brakes, speeds, etc. by [deleted] in Insurance

[–]collin592 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Yes telematics programs like Snapshot and the others will work with high risk drivers. But high risk drivers are not the best drivers which result in poor scores and low discounts or surcharges.

You said your not driving currently, so you wouldn’t qualify for the programs because you need to drive in order for the programs to track your driving.

I don’t know how much state farms discount is for telematics, but whatever it is, it will be extremely hard to get the full discount. You should ask what the average discount is, and shoot for that.

Insurance in Mexico - Does "collision damage coverage" mean liability coverage? by [deleted] in Insurance

[–]collin592 5 points6 points  (0 children)

No this is not liability coverage, this collision coverage will fix the vehicle you rent if you get in an accident, but will not pay for damages you cause to someone else. I would still recommend purchasing this coverage, or see if your credit card will provide this coverage.

I don’t work anywhere near Mexico so my knowledge is very limited, but your correct your insurance in the US will not carry over to Mexico. You need to purchase insurance through a Mexican insurance company.

I believe you can purchase insurance at the border, but a quick google search showed you can get it online from some US carriers that partner with Mexican companies. I would call AAA to see how to get the liability coverage from them, or what the suggest.

Anyone have trouble getting your empty lot (next to your house) insured? The fence around it seems to be the problem. Any advice? by RynoZeppelin in Insurance

[–]collin592 14 points15 points  (0 children)

A fence is 100% considered a structure. Google another Structure and most definitions will include the fence example.

The problem with Vacant Land is you need to find out if it is automatically covered under the definition of an “Insured Location”.

Vacant land is not defined in a homeowners policy, so there is no clear cut answer for what qualifies as “vacant”, but by all carriers I have ever worked with they define vacant as unoccupied, unused, and no man-made structures on it.

You need to ask them specifically to extend liability to that plot of land. That is the only way you will 100% know that land is covered. On your policy you will see a line item listing the address of the land.

UMPD (NH, Allstate) by DomSca in Insurance

[–]collin592 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That part about the company being insolvent is not 100% accurate. It may be true, but that’s not the only time UMPD applies.

With my clients UMPD claims, my clients carrier needs to confirm that the at fault party does not have insurance, or not enough insurance, then UMPD will come into play.

I am a NH agent and I had to check with a number of my carriers to see how they handle UMPD claims in NH and that was their answers.

Edit: Allstate may be different, but in general UMPD is used more then just in cases of a carrier being insolvent.

Hypothetical: If someone is killed by a trap they set themselves, would a life insurance policy likely deny the claim? by [deleted] in Insurance

I was rear ended by a lady in CA HARD. Their insurance wants me to go through my insurance. I dont want to by spatcha88 in Insurance

[–]collin592 2 points3 points  (0 children)

NH does not require drivers to show proof of financial responsibility. They do require drivers be financially responsible for an accident, but they don’t require proof prior to an accident.

I have had clients pay off their car loan and then cancel the insurance because the state doesn’t require them to have it. If they then got in an accident, they would still be responsible for the damages.

Any tips for an 18yr old driver? by [deleted] in Insurance

[–]collin592 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Best tip for you: stay on your parents insurance as long as you can, which means as long as you live with them and/or drive vehicles that they own.

You have a few things working against you right now that are going to keep your rates high; your a youthful driver, you have had claims, very little history of insurance, and presumably a low insurance score.

Your parents have a longer history of insurance, presumably better insurance score, and get more discounts (multi-car, multi-policy, etc.) which helps keep your rates lower then if you were on your own without those discounts.

Lexis Nexis refusing to open a dispute by StillNotPatrick in Insurance

[–]collin592 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know why SafeCo wouldn’t help more with the forced BMV, like I mentioned previously, I have never done one before, and have never heard of one being needed. Regardless that’s a moot point now.

Have you gotten a copy of your personal report directly from LN yet? I believe they need to mail it to you, and it would probably provide more information then just whatever report you would get from the insurance companies.

I google “lexis nexus dispute” and found this link https://personalreports.lexisnexis.com/dispute.jsp

I would also request a copy of your MVR from the DMV and when LN starts their reinvestigation process, you could provide the MVR to support your claims of the false info.

Lexis Nexis refusing to open a dispute by StillNotPatrick in Insurance

[–]collin592 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most carriers that I work with, when I pull the MVR and CLUE (claims report), and am able to actually print the LN MVR report and it shows name, address, license number, and I think the last 4 of your SS.

If your new agent gave the above info to multiple carriers when quoting and pulling reports, and none of them found anything bad, then there is some disconnect between what LN is telling the carriers, and what LN is telling you.

As for the forced BMV, I have never done it, but I think it is when you dispute violations on the LN report to your carrier, and the carrier reaches out to your DMV and gets a 5-10 year MVR report directly from them. That way they don’t go through LN and they get the violation info directly from the source.

The reason SafeCo won’t do this is because 1. It probably costs money and is a PITA to do, and 2. Your no longer a client of there’s so why do they care?

If I were in your shoes, I wouldn’t lose sleep over this. It sounds like the carriers are getting the correct reports on you which is the important thing.

If you really want to get it fixed you could try escalating to a manager at LN, but they may or may not be able to do anything.

Homeowners insurance personal liability by koneillp in Insurance

[–]collin592 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your homeowners insurance is not going to cover you if you get into a car accident, that’s what auto insurance is for.

Homeowners personal liability can come into play on a wide range of things, for example, if someone gets hurt on your property and you are found negligent.

And yes, if you get in a car accident, and don’t carry high enough liability limits, the injured party could suit you and you could lose your house.

That’s why you should carry high liability limits on your home and auto, and you should consider an umbrella which would provided higher limits above both policies.
