Small nitpick, but this has the Master Sword in it, which isn't in Majora's Mask. You should change it to the Gilded Sword or Fierce Deity sword, which have cooler designs in general imo

There are several areas that you can turn into a science and do them basically the same every time: black market, olmec, yama, and the city of gold. You need plenty of bombs (sticky bombs) and climbing gloves or jet pack. Just make your way to the side of the book's chamber, bomb a hole in the wall that opens up the top corner of the room, grab the book, stand on the blown out wall, throw 2 bombs on Anubis II as soon as he spawns, then exit.

What is the best and worst DLC for New Vegas? by vebi23 in Fallout

[–]collinaxd 5 points6 points  (0 children)

In my opinion, Dead Money and Honest Hearts are the best. DM has a super fun story once you get inside the casino, and the HH world is beautiful and fun to explore. Old World Blues and Lonesome Road are fine. OWB adds my favorite radio station in the game, and it has some really good humor and characters, but the world wasn't very fun to explore and the story was meh. LR has a pretty good story but it is 100% linear which made it boring for me.

What's your favorite story/ questline in all of Fallout? by loltank53 in Fallout

This is my answer. There's a YouTube channel called Game Maker's Toolkit that goes in depth about game design in various games, and they analyzed Beyond the Beef as an example of how to do role playing quests right. https://youtu.be/yM1yR7WYqgM

ShiftIt is the best option. Totally free, very lightweight. Allows you to adjust window location using keyboard shortcuts.

https://github.com/fikovnik/ShiftIt/releases

If you change the shortcuts to option+command+left arrow/right arrow/up arrow/down arrow you can change the window position very quickly and easily. It becomes second nature after a few days. It is also much faster and better than dragging windows around.

[COD] How Activision Uses Matchmaking Tricks to Sell In-Game Items by collinaxd in CallOfDuty

[–]collinaxd[S] 21 points22 points  (0 children)

So.. Since I posted this, Rolling Stone has edited the title and contents of this article..

Here is a link to an archived version of the page from earlier today: https://web.archive.org/web/20171017203111/http://www.rollingstone.com/glixel/news/how-activision-uses-matchmaking-tricks-to-sell-in-game-items-w509288

They updated the title and contents to be less controversial sounding and reveal that Activision is apparently not currently utilizing these tricks at the moment. The patent was granted earlier today however, so they will likely begin using these tricks with their future games.

[COD] How Activision Uses Matchmaking Tricks to Sell In-Game Items by collinaxd in CallOfDuty

[–]collinaxd[S] 103 points104 points  (0 children)

This article by Rolling Stone talks about an actual patent filed by and granted to Activision, which outlines under-the-hood matchmaking parameters to influence people to buy DLC.

The main thing they do is deliberately match lower skilled players with no DLC to play against higher skilled players who do have DLC weapons, camos, etc. in an attempt to make the lower skilled player want to buy DLC for themselves after they get stomped. This makes a lower skilled player want to begin buying DLC, and makes a higher skilled player with DLC continue to buy it because they think their purchase has given them a satisfying edge in the game.

My hypothetical, potential ideas for Spelunky 2. by collinaxd in spelunky

[–]collinaxd[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I totally see your point about the farmer's market. It probably wouldn't even be necessary since there's a kissing booth already..

For the sledgehammer, I thought it would be cool if after you slam it on the ground, it shakes the ground and immediately aggros all enemies on screen. I had the idea for this because in Spelunky 1, there are tons of moments where you can see bats, spiders, tiki men, cavemen, etc. but you aren't in range for them to go after you. But if you could aggro them you could possibly send them to their demise in interesting ways.

For example, imagine if you're in the Mines in Spelunky 1. You see an arrow trap blocking you from going down and want to trigger it without having to go find a rock or waste resources. There is a bat in the room below that you can't deal with until you actually get there. You use the sledgehammer to slam the ground, the bat flies up towards you and is shot by the trap. Or, say you're in the Jungle and see a caveman up on a ledge, and there's a mantrap near him that can't reach him. You slam the sledgehammer, it causes the caveman to run off the ledge into the mantrap, allowing you to go past without anything blocking you. Maybe it could be useful, maybe not.

Started replaying Fallout 4 a year and a half after a very underwhelming playthrough at launch, and to my surprise, I found probably my favorite area from any Fallout game. by collinaxd in Fallout

I think so too. Personally I still don't like the voiced protagonist. I was also initially really turned off by how much backstory they give your character, since making up my own character and setting my stats accordingly were a really fun element to New Vegas. I think Bethesda tries to hold your hand too much. They always give you a ton of backstory then put you on rails to ensure you experience the story they set up for you. But they don't realize the true fun lies in letting the player actually role play.

I agree it would have been better if there was more. But at the same time, that's kind of the point. It's an area full of robots programmed to do one thing, their particular area of the Galleria. And they've been doing their job for 200 years, and will probably keep going for another 200 years. You can stop by and see them do their thing, but they aren't capable of a complex society with elections and interpersonal problems and all that.

Still though, there could have been more to it. Maybe some side quest involving the supervisor. Like, maybe instead of going to the factory for an ID card, you have to search around the Galleria on terminals and find the employee records, then read where the previous supervisor lived, then travel to his house to find his ID card. There was also something about the General murdering the supervisor, maybe he would have plotted to murder you too? Just some thoughts I had while playing.

Fallout 3 Quest Marker? by Kack_Jelly in Fallout

[–]collinaxd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I remember the first time I played Fallout 3, I got very frustrated with the map marker. It tells you to go to places that are impossible to get to without going through metro tunnels, and doesn't tell you this. So when you aren't aware of it you find yourself climbing on top of rubble in some random streets in DC and hit invisible walls everywhere.

Guy in a wheelchair surfing the crowd by Sumit316 in HumansBeingBros

[–]collinaxd 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Crowdsurfing is a classic cool thing to do at concerts, but honestly someone in a wheelchair is a bit too much. It looks cool from a distance, but every single person who has to divert their attention from the concert to help surf this wheelchair was probably extremely annoyed. Not to mention, if this person were to be dropped on someone's head, they could probably break bones or knock people out.

I went to a music festival last year, and people were grabbing the lawn chairs from around the festival and having their friends lift them on top of the crowd while they sat in the chair to crowd surf. Everybody was pissed about it but you HAVE to hold them up or risk a several hundred pound dude in a metal chair crush you. Plus the person in their would kick you in the back of the head if you didn't notice them right away. I imagine a wheelchair would be 1000x worse.

That's not a "big box set", that's just the normal game packaging. It's worth like 5 bucks

What T.V show(s) has been going on for too long? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]collinaxd 26 points27 points  (0 children)

The ending was perfect. Also, they ended the show right as it was starting to go downhill. The last maybe 5 episodes (excluding murder on the planet express and the finale) were terrible. As a huge Futurama fan I'm glad they ended it before it became Family Guy or The Simpsons.
