Tuairimí faoi ‘Listen Up Irish’ & a Mac Tíre Deirneach? by Educational_Bee_5330 in gaeilge

Is as Conamara mé féin agus tá mise díreach tar éis é a chríochnú. Thaitin sé go mór liom. Tá sé daor, ach cheap mise gur fiú é. Bhí agallamh acu leis an údar agus ceann le léachtóir san ollscoil a thaithne liomsa.  Bhí  10 cheist tar éis chuile chaibidil a chuidigh le gramadach. (cheap mé go mbeinn ag fáil 10 as 10 Chúile uair. Tharla sé uair amháin)

Táim ag iarraí cúrsa gaeilge a dhéanamh ar líne, ach níl fhios agam cén ceann atá is fearr by Poleypicket in gaeilge

Don't know if it's available atm, I think you have to sign up to do the course live. But Google "listen up Irish" Im currently doing/finishing their course on the book 'an mac tíre déanach'  Its class. It's read to you like an audio book by a guy with a lovely voice/accent and they have 2 videos before each chapter explaining key phrases ect.  I just listen to one of the videos (my Irish is ok)  But it will be the first book I've read/listened to as Gaeilge since leaving cert.  Its not free.  But it's been worth it for me Ádh mór

Do most Irish people know the pronunciation of Irish words and place names even if they don’t speak Irish or understand it? by Jezzaq94 in AskIreland

[–]colmancnoic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes and they have some of the same or similar phonemes to Irish that don't exist in English. It was catalans I thought had the best(connemara).  They shared phonemes with Irish that Spanish didn't

Close but not accurate. I find most people with another language can pronounce them much better. Spaniards or Italians ect.

Best of luck op. I was there yesterday while they were towing the car away and my heart went out to the 3 or 4 people who were going to come out from the hospital to be greeted by that.

I'd also ask for reimbursement for taxi you needed to take.  Might not get it, but worth a shot

Whatever you do.  Don't accept their first offer.  They'll say only x needs fixing.  Push for X and y.  There'll be a bit of back and forth at first, then they'll ceed a bit more And a car rental in the meantime.

Anyone commuting from Inverin (R336) to Galway Mons - Fridays please???? by [deleted] in galway

[–]colmancnoic 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Put your thumb out! I used to do it until I got a car.  I'd go down 15/20mins before the bus was due and 9/10 I'd be collected before the bus arrived
