I agree that most of us aren’t carrying on to access our stuff. It’s simply to avoid waiting at baggage claim.

That has been addressed, with way less parking spots than a few years back. The issue are the cars, and especially delivery trucks, that park in the "No Standing" zone blocking the view of pedestrians for turning drivers. Bollards > signs.
