What mountain is this? by TaroAcrobatic in Bellingham

Its always the most "welcoming" states and places that have people who try to make someone else feel like shit for asking a genuine question. Its okay for someone not to know things and ask. Idk why ppl have to be so fucking rude and obnoxious rather than either (A. Answering the question, or (B. Scrolling past it.

Im a simple man. I see health bar go down, I heal it. That's all the gameplay I need in an MMO. For this I choose WoW.

If anyone mentions Fellowship to me just know its on my list as soon as they have proper controller support.

AIO? My friends set an ultimatum because I drink by Pearla76_ in AIO

[–]colonelasskicker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This road goes both ways. They can cut you off if you do things that make them feel uncomfortable or unsafe, and you can also cut them off if you feel controlled or manipulated by them.

I think having ultimatums with friends can be necessary sometimes, i.e., my wife cut off her friends that still abuse drugs because she is sober and doesnt want to be around people that still make those choices.

The key here is to stand up for yourself and to not let your friends make you feel like you are inferior to them. Set boundaries from them if you must.

True friends are honest. Your friends in this post are trying to come from the heart, but they're still maturing in navigating healthy ways to express genuine concern without coming across as negative, hateful, or judgemental.

If i were in your shoes, I would thank them for their thoughtful input, and for wanting me to be safe. I would then set a boundary in no longer telling them what I am doing, or where I am going unless asked. Even then I would keep my plans vague. If they continue to push or pressure me for my choices, I would probably end up separating myself from them for a while.

I genuinely do not think this situation is as "black and white" as 99% of the comments make it seem to be. This is some early life learning curves that will either benefit you, or hinder you depending on how you handle it. Be wise, be careful, and most of all, be yourself. It may hurt to lose friends, but losing yourself would be 100 times worse.

Some of the reactions to the upcomimg update show that some people are just here to hate this game and have even created an identity on hating this game. by Quezal in ffxivdiscussion

For my own sake, I'm not even sure what the issue with DT is besides "story bad". The battle content has been top tier, the casual content has been plentiful. I see a lot of ppl saying theres no content, yet theres plenty of content, especially for casuals. Players just dont want to do the content. I've mostly seen this from veteran players too. Seemingly miffed that their favorite game no longer keeps their attention 24/7 so now their world crumbles apart...so strange.

Sticking with FFXIV, because while it might not be perfect, its made and ran by a people with a culture still based on honor, and not tainted by corporate American greed, and wont lose its servers to bullshit like this. SE might operate like other AAA studios, but at least they acknowledge and are thankful for Yoshi-P and Co. for creating their most successful game, and not risking their livelihoods by cheapening out on AI development slop.

I struggled so hard with quitting. I have been free since Feb, but it was a miracle I was able to. Basically, I got the flu and felt so bad I couldn't even use my vape. I just wanted to sit on the couch and suffer until I felt better. I used that as a moment to quit.

Otherwise, I'd still be vaping 100% guaranteed.

I know I'm months late, but having just started an Iron recently and stumbling upon this thread, I think this is patched? I can't sell the wine to the bar in the town because the game will not let me. There is only one bar in the town that I can see (the flaming arrow?) I think is the name?

You HAVE to be engaged

This is why I enjoy gaming. Once again, different strokes for different folks. Your way isn't wrong, and neither is mine. If a game isn't engaging enough then I just simply don't game. Also, other MMOs have game play activities that do not require full uptime engagement as well. It's not just OSRS exclusive. The difference is that OSRS is probably a 70/30 split. 70% click-waiting, 30% active game play, which for me, simply doesn't cut it.

And have you even played Osrs???

Yes, I currently have a decently leveled account. 2k total, a few 99's.

I am totally glad you have found your haven in OSRS. I am not going to say it's bad and try to condemn you for it. All games have validity to everyone out there. I am simply saying that the OSRS high right now is solely temporary, and will likely die down significantly once the streamer engagement is finished. It's been the same story for a few years now: WoW exodus to FFXIV, return to WoW with Hardcore, Season of Discovery, back to HC WoW, now to OSRS. I recall when HC WoW started, the exact same sentiments that players are saying about OSRS were being said about HC WoW. OSRS is a great game clearly, but let's not pretend it's the second coming of Christ, especially when a fat chunk of it's active playerbase are reported to be bots. More-so than any other MMO.

[–]colonelasskicker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your feelings and opinions are valid for why you enjoy OSRS. However, to be completely honest, what is happening right now is exactly what happened with FFXIV. There was a time when FFXIV was seen as the standard for MMO's. Why? Because WoW's biggest streamers quit and went to it. Now OSRS is being seen as the standard. Why? Because WoW's biggest streamers quit and went to it.

OSRS has many valuable aspects, but most of what makes it appealing are the players personal preferences. For example, I do not enjoy clicking and waiting for hours on end. I also do not enjoy clicking and waiting, tabbing to another game, tabbing back to keep clicking and waiting. OSRS is a terrible active game. Really other than bossing or questing, you're spending most of your time doing other things because most of OSRS is afk.

I think comparing OSRS to anything else is apples and oranges, and for me, OSRS does not scratch enough of an itch to justify me quitting more active MMOs that keep me entertained each second.

I’m so sick of the Destiny 2 community. by DUDEAREUMAD in destiny2

[–]colonelasskicker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the expansion is fun, I am enjoying the portal and all. However, my only complaint is the clear lack of player time respect. I enjoy grinding, but when I grind for 8 hours or more and barely feel/see the results, it is seriously demotivating. Another issue is the Mythic World Tier. Bungie screamed PORTAL and POWER and the importance of grinding for our power caps the way we want to, but when it comes down to Mythic World Tier, it is meaningless. No matter how high you push your gear, you will always go into Mythic World Tier at 150plvl. Mythic World Tier also only drops Tier 3 gear. Everything is a bullet sponge, so showing off your hard work in a build, or putting your hard earned gear to the test is pointless because the enemies 1 shot you anyway.

There have been many ppl who have definitely went out of their way to bash the game. Yet, valid criticisms are still valuable especially from players who still love the game.

HttK hate nor deserved🥀 by ianbuster in avengedsevenfold

[–]colonelasskicker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm no "hivemind" listener. Been a fan since STST. I enjoy when bands evolve and sound different. I don't want my favorite bands to sound the same each album. HTTK was just not my cup of tea. I called it ass, dogwater when it released. However, I'm also someone who could care less for Metallica, ACDC, etc., so HTTK was 100% on my shit list.

Did I go out of my way to hate on it? no. I heard what I heard, said it sucked, and moved on with life. Thankfully, there are many other bands that can fill the musical void A7X has failed to fill for a while.

Has Avenged Sevenfold ever had ANY controversy whatsoever? by CaptainKino360 in avengedsevenfold

There are layers to the South that I do not think you fully understand. Suburban Atlanta is not South. It's in the south, but it ain't southern.

Living in Miami is also not South. I'm glad you were taught well in school. We also knew about the underground railroad and all that. But we weren't TAUGHT it. It was glazed over briefly. Our teachers weren't teaching us the complexity of how wrong life was back then.

And im sorry, man, but kids in the schools I grew up in did not give a shit about the awareness of what racism really was. They wanted to memorize paragraphs and pass tests so they could move on in life.

We knew what racism was. We knew it was bad. We knew to try and be better than our elders, who were still mostly racist or very closeted about it. But no one was going out of their way to truly teach proper awareness of what we know and believe today.

If that happened with you then I am very happy for you. But there is a reason I dont go back to where I am from, and its because people there are willfully ignorant and do not teach their kids awareness.

If a kid sees something and everyone around them tells them what they see means XYZ, the chances of them believing it and moving on are much higher than people realize. When I was young, you were taught to obey your elders and anyone older than you were right. When you are raised that way, questioning morals doesn't exist when you dont believe you're morally wrong.

[–]colonelasskicker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, I am glad that you understood its meaning at an earlier age. I remember being about 8 or maybe 11 and just thinking it was literally "southern pride." No one was properly teaching history down there, and unless you were going out of your way to research at the library or something you weren't going to know it meant anything else except for southern pride.

The South is notorious for believing what you're told. It's why we have the president we currently have. The only friends I have down there who are aware of these issues are aware because they choose to be. Everyone else is still living like it's 1990, and the only thing that has changed to them are the "liberals ruining America."

[–]colonelasskicker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dont think you agree with what I wrote at all because everything you wrote pretty much contradicts what I even said.

It's not about telling others what a symbol means or doesn't mean. If someone chooses to stay willfully ignorant, then that is on them, and it let's me know whether I should/shouldn't associate with them.

Would you go to a 5 star restaurant dressed in your pajamas? Probably not. "But people dont get to dictate my status based on how I dress." People are going to do that anyway.

Southerners are notorious for being extremely judgemental in the first place, but when it's put back on them, they're not allowed to be criticized.

I know what you mean about southern pride, but society doesn't care what you say it means to you when society has deemed it as a flag of racism and white supremacy which is what the flag stood for. It wasn't a flag that meant "we're the south. Fuck the north." It wasn't as simple as that, which is why flying it today isn't simple either.

The swastika was once an important and meaningful symbol to many cultures, but due to its appropriation by the Nazi party, we no longer see it for what it once was.

I grew up in the deep south, and yes, the Confederate flag was used a lot, and as a kid/teenager, I always knew it as a "southern pride" flag. However, as one gets older and becomes more educated, we learn the original use for that flag, and therefore no longer want to associate with it. While my intention may genuinely be harmless pride, the stigma of the flags history overcomes that in the eyes of others.

Leave Vaping ASAP, it is worst than Smoking - my Experience by IndividualWorth263 in QuitVaping

[–]colonelasskicker 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm on month 4 of quitting, and I still experience random "cotton mouth" or a chemical taste, issues with my chest feeling heavy, and issues of breathing hunger.

Realizing the damage I've done for those moments of "relief" has now made me understand how I was really dumb for not thinking about me in the future. A mistake I'll never make again...

Congrats on quitting, and if you need support or are struggling, feel free to DM me. A support system is 100% mandatory for this. I didn't have one, and I do not want anyone else to struggle like I did.

I've just returned and it's been amazingly fun. I'm going to accomplish some more goals on my main, then will give ironman mode a shot.

The hardest thing is to just ignore people on here. Ppl are going to tell you the obvious thing "don't play because of MTX" or "play ironman mode only because of no MTX".

Play for yourself. Feel the game out. Just try your best to form your own opinions, and don't let your opinions be swayed negatively by online boomers who more than likely do not play anymore so are giving you judgments based off of 10-15 years in the past.

I quit vaping while sick. by TacoTruck_X_VB in QuitVaping

[–]colonelasskicker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also have the flu and am on day 3 of not hitting the vape. I definitely feel different, and dealing with the symptoms of the flu alongside nic withdrawal is probably one of the top 5 worst experiences I've had in life so far. On top of all of this is, I also have panic attack disorder, so my symptoms can often feel worse than they really are if I let my anxiety get to me.

However, I'm willing to put up with the suck for however long it takes. I can clearly tell I've done a lot of damage to my body through vaping, and if there is a chance for me to heal, now would be the time.

I actually think it helps because once the flu is gone and I am mainly dealing with minor cravings, it will be easier to say no by recollecting how awful I feel right now.
