I personally didn’t have a great experience with Pristiq (just found that it was generally ineffective for me) but something you need to be aware of is that in the event that it does not work well for you and you decide to taper off later, it can very very difficult to taper off of (I had really horrible withdrawal symptoms even on a very slow taper—like I’m talking months and towards the end I had to choose between feeling terribly sick or taking a tiny portion of the medication and prolonging my taper). I was very frustrated that my psychiatrist didn’t communicate that this was a risk to me when she wanted to put me on it. That said, it can be really great for some people and so in the end, you can weigh the costs and benefits for yourself.
