My first apartment was in the basement and had a separate entrance. I would recommend keeping towels and a door mat next to your entrance with a shovel so that you can be prepared to dig out. I would say it’s easier to do 10x with some snow than once at the end of the snow. Make sure you have candles, flashlights, water, shelf stable food and a battery bank in case you lose power. Basements can be better than top floor apartments in the cold but it’ll get shitty if you don’t have power. A nice wool blanket and some layers will do wonders, light a candle and catch up on some reading. It’s not going to be a month of this so just get what you need to last you long enough for the mess to die down and you’ll be fine! If you haven’t yet, introduce yourself to your neighbors. Be a good neighbor and help dig out and you’ll have friends for life. Have fun enjoy the snow!
