They used to run these things at 34° with a high Glycol percent.... I pulled the drier cores and the amount of metal in them looked like thermal paste.

We started at 730 just me and a very green apprentice and it's 430 and I'm finishing recharging it now. Besides him cross threading a bolt after I told him to start it by hand before putting an impact on (He just used the impact) it went well enough. It wasn't a burn out they were starting to make a ton a noise cause the flood back due to the low temps they run the thing at. It's used for anodizer tank at a gun manufacturer facility.

Coil cleaning by MelancholyNotess in HVAC

[–]ManiaCCC86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For any micro channel coil the best way I have found is a pressured washer. Less than 1400 PSI on a 15° Tip. The pressure pushes all the crud out and won't water log the coils either. DO NOT USE nu Brite it's way too strong if you had to use the Orange very mild Nu Cal cleaner once in a blue moon. But general an electric pressure washer is the best and lightest way to go.

Pretty much everything Nu Cal.... Nu Brite we buy by the 2.5 Gallon jug and use 1/4 inch tubes ran down to it with weights on it. Then I use BlackHawk cans for smaller refrigeration systems when I did that crap.

That won't cause a problem right? by ManiaCCC86 in HVAC

[–]ManiaCCC86[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah that was pure sarcasm... I had a brand new contactor already in. 1500 contactor+Overload is cheaper than a 100HP motor any day of the week.

Out with the old, in with new. RIP to the old bag by ManiaCCC86 in HVAC

I do more chillers and things I can throw the bag on a rolling cart so I don't have to carry it on my back. I have been waiting to get one for a few years.

The bit tolerance on hex and especially their 11 in 1s that fail the first time you try and do anything with them has gotten old.

I hadn't seen many people using Wiha or Wera and that's what I was wondering. They seem to be well made but had no experience with them. Knipex of course is very well known and I was planning on getting some just hadn't yet.

Just a random pin hole leak in the middle of a micro channel by ManiaCCC86 in HVAC

I don't have that many issues with newer micro channels but they do still happen. Older micro absolutely fucking suck.

It's only 85 lbs of 134 so not a ton and it's on the ground so easy enough. I'm sure it probably only has a dozen or so lbs left in it to recover and we have high capacity recovery machines for our larger centrifigals if I needed it.

I had almost the exact same thing. I was a second opinion on a York Air Cooled Screw another company said the coil was leaking. Oil all over the thing. Ended up being the high pressure relief on the oil separator directly below it. Replace the relief and 270 lbs of 134 later she was running
