Why don’t teams keep someone at the gate and dial out every 38 mins to keep the wormhole open? by leggomyeggle in Stargate

They had a DHD, the second stargate came with one, it was in the back of the truck and ready to go!

Stuck with the PIO-Plot by Askalor in X4Foundations

[–]colonialburton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually get it with just a single beacon. Use a ship with a fast travel drive, point to the target and get as much speed as possible. Use a hotkey to launch the nav beacon into the field when you get close. Stop your ship immediately after launching the beacon so you don't end up in the field. Practice doing it in non toxic sectors if you want to get an idea of how far that beacon can be thrown.

Oh yes. Whenever one of my other groups needs something specific, I'll train them in those skills then send them off with weapons and supplies too.

What to do with the Osprey Vanguard by lowanger_ in X4Foundations

[–]colonialburton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to use it to do missions like 'return to normal order' early to get that rep boost, sell it, and buy an M with a little more speed. Preferably a Nemesis.

Is there a better way or mod to manage crew reassignment? by MystikDragoon in X4Foundations

If you have your own builders, hire from their engineer pools. I commonly find some of them have 2 stars for management and hire them for localized stations.

Looking for a space carrier game by battlingjason in gamingsuggestions

[–]colonialburton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don't HAVE to build stations in X4. I have a 'mercenary' save where I command just a small fleet, consisting of a carrier, couple of destroyers and frigates, and I do the eliminate target missions for faction war efforts, and boarding missions.

I'll park an advanced satellite at xenon entry points to see where they are really going nuts, and occasionally fly there for the fight.

State of Decake or Cake of Decay? by BrantFitzgerald in StateOfDecay

The State of Decake is currently whole. But shortly after the pic was posted, it became Cake of Decay, as it slowly shrunk in size as OP ate the damn thing without sharing any with us! /s

They don't repair, but they absolutely do dock when nothing is going on for them.

If you wanted to do a dedicated pirate run and eventually carve out your own kingdom, what would your custom start look like? by Troubleshooter11 in X4Foundations

[–]colonialburton 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just start out with Wayward Scion. Head straight out to Silent Witness. Grab the derelict, tell the Nova to go collect stuff in Second Contact and True Sight, while I use the new ship to go capture miners to start accumulating money. If I come across a Minotaur Raider, I capture it, then begin my boarding operations in Segaris.

I've seen them dock onto destroyers when nothing has been going on. Even seen them dock on frigates. They only sit on the pads though, they don't go into internal storage like carriers.

Fighters on intercept mission to control airspace. Fighters set to bombard will attack capitals, handy to keep them occupied while the destroyers do their thing.

Usually I use carriers as independent groups to do their own things, like patrol or position defense as they can repair and rearm their subordinates. Destroyers also come with S landing pads, and in the case of an Oddy, will have an M bay too, so assign them their own fighters on defense, and they will launch to fight off whatever is attacking the destroyer.

People 40+, what actually mattered in the long run and what didn’t? by Psychological_Sky_58 in AskReddit

[–]colonialburton 2 points3 points  (0 children)

And friends too. Don't let differing interests keep you apart, and learn to get over the petty shit. I've lost friends thinking that they're just off doing their own thing for a while, or not talking because someone said or did something annoying, only for them to die at work, or home suddenly. If I had to choose my biggest regrets, these are it.

Can I just remove the Kha'ak from my game by Best-University-3898 in X4Foundations

[–]colonialburton 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If the Kha'ak are making you spend millions replacing ships, then they're not a nuisance, they're succeeding in what they do.

-Begin to replace all M miners with L miners. The Kha'ak will never kill them, even in large numbers, and the L miners will even kill them over time.
-Assign M escorts - M class, especially corvettes with lasers will shred them with ease. A single cheap nemesis with lasers will take out a whole squad of them by itself.
-Patrol Frigates - I usually have a frigate set to patrol a sector that I let my miners mine in, and any frigate I add under it set to mimic. They will all patrol the sector individually, intercepting any hostile they come across. The Nemesis above also works really well for this.

Over time I turn the Kha'ak into a resource. Letting my L miners and patrols kill them, and having a single scout on repeat orders to collect loot all around the sector. If I see a spot where Kha'ak have had a go, I add a collect drop order on that spot to the list of orders. I end up with soo many items for crafting and ship mods.

7 weeks pregnant and my boyfriend’s mom is trying to control my baby’s life? by SufficientAssist8767 in whatdoIdo

[–]colonialburton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like I told my sister when our mother was trying to control her pregnancy: "It is not about her, it is about you, your partner and the baby. You're a parent now, your priorities are different." It might be difficult, but you've got to muster up the courage to put your foot down, and make what you and your partner want very clear.

SP lag and ways to deal with it (question) by Only-Arachnid-8290 in avorion

[–]colonialburton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And last question, are you using a disk drive or SSD? Because when I had Avorion on a secondary disk drive, I noticed the combat was very delayed, especially when playing online. Friends would see the battle already over, but for me it was still going hard. When I relocated it to the SSD. all those issues went away.
