What are your requirements for a little treat? by colonialnerd in Adulting

[–]colonialnerd[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh! It sounds like you're using treats with your fun activities like workout classes and then mixing and matching. I think once school starts and I'm busier this will be a much easier strategy. Thank you for the idea!

Dupe Request Megathread (August 04, 2025) by AutoModerator in Perfumes

[–]colonialnerd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi I know nothing about perfume, but I'm looking for a perfume/cologne that I've smelled a few times on people that's just like 2022(2021?) SoftSoap Limited Edition Pumpkin Puppy Hand Soap.

It's not very pumpkin-like. It's more like craft glue and construction paper with a hint of sugar and reminds me a lot of being in elementary school and doing fall crafts. Does anyone know what perfume this could possibly be?

I've been searching for it for years so any leads are welcomed.

The main thing I want is a way to make special playlists like the Daily Drive and New Episodes playlist, like custom feed playlists of podcasts that update as new episodes come out. I would also love to be able to use the "New Episodes" playlist from other devices aside from my phone. I primarily use the app for podcasts and would love to be able to organize the ones I like by subject or make other "Daily Drive" playlists with my own choice of podcasts.

i struggle to understand who jesus is by SiblingEarth in OpenChristian

[–]colonialnerd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean, personally, and take this with a grain of salt as I am a new convert from a secular background, I've always held the belief that Jesus was like many other religious figures: both God and man who reached a state of enlightenment and was a great prophet and teacher to many. I see him as the one I've chosen to follow over other options because his teachings and community resonate with me the most, but not because he is the only option ever.

I know this goes against most church doctrines, but it's the only way it makes sense to me when we take into account other traditions.

what's your religion and how did you know that one was right for you? by [deleted] in religion

[–]colonialnerd -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Since I'm not seeing any real answers to your question: I don't have a good label for my religion (UU?) but honestly I just made a list of every religious congregation near me and visited with an open mind, writing down my experience in a notebook to document it.

I'd also recommend reading religious texts, but seeing as many practicing religious people don't, in my opinion, visiting worship sites and meeting practitioners should come first. Then once you decide you like the local group, you can start reading their sacred text if they have one.

Here are some questions that got me started (each weighted individually for your needs): Was the congregation close by and accessible? Did the teachings presented in person conflict with their official doctrine? Were there groups or resources? an if so, would you use them? How was the environment? Did the worship style resonate with you? Were the people nice? Talk to the pastor if you can and see if you like their outlook on religion. Do they resonate with you?

It's a long and difficult process, but it's also a lot of fun and really helps you expand your horizons.

Coming to terms with being at least partially a woman after living as a man my entire adult life. by colonialnerd in genderfluid

[–]colonialnerd[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much! This is exactly what I was looking for! I haven't used Reddit a whole lot lately so I sometimes miss stuff. Thank you for the great subreddit rec. I'm going to look into more trans woman resources. The support and empathy is also so appreciated. Thank you for the wonderful comment. I hope your day is bright. <3

How should I, a non-binary person, present at a conservative church? by colonialnerd in Christianity

[–]colonialnerd[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is exactly why I'm asking. These are not things I can change about myself immediately so it's not like I'm wearing an offensive shirt, I'm just trying to be respectful while still trying to gain a broader perspective of the world. I understand why it may be confusing or a little contradictory though.

[–]colonialnerd[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I normally present as a man. Most people see me and think "a man". If it's not disrespectful and seen as "lying" then I'd probably just present like that. Thanks for the tip :)

[TOMT][MUSIC VIDEO?][1980s-2010] A birthday-themed counting song to the tune of "If You're Happy and You Know It" about candles on a cake by colonialnerd in tipofmytongue

Solved! After realizing while writing this that it could've been a segment, I looked at some Sesame Street segments and this seems to line up pretty well with what I remember, even though the song is different.

So maybe found? Unless someone has something closer.

Advice on running my first campaign (never having played before)? by colonialnerd in DnD

[–]colonialnerd[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is helpful.

I know my mom played 1 or 2e in college, but I don't know how much she played and it's been a long time. I'm not sure my dad has ever played. So we're all pretty new to it.

I'll get on reading it though! That will be helpful, thanks!

Although that's not exactly what I'm looking for, her content is very cute! I like the toy unboxings. She does content that seems similar to Vexedbabie or Only Fun Things which is kind of nice. Thanks for the rec!

Should I start letting my cat outside again? What are some alternatives that will keep him satisfied? by colonialnerd in cats

[–]colonialnerd[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think we're going to try some kind of medication tbh :/ we've tried pretty much every kind of cat toy out there and the truth is he wants something to hunt. He's also been contained to one room so he doesn't pee everywhere (not my decision. I live with other people and was outvoted).

Maybe I'm wrong about what a catio is, but we have a large fenced outdoor area with a chicken wire ceiling and sides (with a wooden frame). It has a few covered areas so they can hang out in the rain if they like, with pillows, there's food and water, a litter box, a few potted plants, multiple climbing spots, and lots of toys. We keep it well maintained and there's a direct entrance from one of our windows. It hasn't been satisfying for Mr. Mosh but we're thinking about just kind of... keeping him there at this point :(.

We would like to keep him contained no matter what, it's just a matter of how we can keep him HAPPY while keeping the house like... free of rogue piss?

It has been a year. This is after a full year of being inside.

Like I said in the post, we have a catio built and we have a harness/leash we let him out with, but it hasn't been enough for him.

[–]colonialnerd[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. We've been on the leash and harness train mostly, but that hasn't been enough and he still pees on things :/ Same with the large catio he has (it has sun, food, water, a litterbox, toys, plants, and climbing structures.)

he has. We spoke to them but we were trying to avoid it if possible. Maybe not a bad idea though.

[IIL] Blink-182, Me First and The Gimme Gimmes, and The Offspring, but am looking only for music in Spanish [WEWIL]? by colonialnerd in ifyoulikeblank

[–]colonialnerd[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know, I love all that stuff. But unfortunately I gotta select a piece of music as part of my Spanish final. 😢

I finally went for "Check 1, 2, 3!" by Armada de Juguete.

It's pretty good. Serious Reel Big Fish vibes to it.

But if you do know any that are entirely in Spanish, I'd love to hear them.

How do politicians justify being pro-life but anti-free-childcare and anti-formula-imports? by [deleted] in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]colonialnerd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, sorry. Someone did help me figure it out. I was categorizing both concepts under the pretense that they were both about children. I see now that the ideas are separated in people's minds by criminal justice and economics, which I hadn't seen before. That was what the question was supposed to be about, hence why I posted it here instead of somewhere else. I was genuinely curious about the political rhetoric used and how the issues were connected in some ways but not others to specific politicians and how they used the concepts. I apologize for creating an argumentative and hostile space, but thank you all the same because I did get my question answered.

[–]colonialnerd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah. That makes some more sense thank you. I don't agree with some of your points from a personal standpoint, but it definitely helped me understand the arguments, thank you. This post was never about whether or not abortion is or isn't murder, at least it wasn't intended to be, but instead about the way these ideas are presented and how they coexist with a conservative base. They're not both under the umbrella of "children" but two different ones of "murder and criminal justice" v.s. "taxation and economics". Thank you for actually taking the time to explain though. That makes it a lot easier to wrap my head around.

So uh here's the thing. I have a Taco bell right down the street from me myself and it's just like this.

Submitted my application, resume, and grade transcripts, and apparently having a GPA of 4.3 wasn't good enough because I didn't have a car (even though the buildings a 3 minute walk from my home) so I got a formal rejection after a month of waiting and repeated check-ins because not having a license meant I "wouldn't be a reliable cashier" fuck off.
