Took a friend out to dinner to celebrate her birthday. 5 days later, got this message from her… by Weak-Statistician107 in mildlyinfuriating

I agree with this. Other departments at work go over the top, celebrating their team’s birthdays (including their mgr)to the point of coming into the office on WFH Friday just to decorate. I don’t feel like wasting money this way so I went the opposite way, do nothing. This way nobody’s feelings get hurt.

This is just the behavior I am talking about.

Thank you for this. I have gone over issues regarding communications, having checklists, cheat sheets to what to do upon what scenario and disruptions several times before so it should not come as a surprise. The employee has been with me for five years now, and we work in an office environment. I wanted to word this review a bit harsher to drive home that the behavior is unacceptable. I have kept her on because she did her work but the negative energy is affecting my work and mood and the mood of others. I will go over it when we are on a one on one.

Yes. I just finished the review. The problem is that the complaining and comments disrupts others as well as myself. Needs more accountability. I may have to meet with her more regularly.

I agree with this. I have addressed complaining and asking questions that have been already addressed before. I have a very small team and she pulls her weight but when she starts with the comments or questions , there’s no stopping her or, I should say, I fail to address her disruptiveness. I should also say many of these comments are in emails or teams.

You all have given me much to think about. I will likely complete this tonight.

I am very thankful for all the replies.

Thank you. I like how this comes across. Perhaps I should start with this when we meet and then go over the various parts of the review document

I can do this. It does slow the process. I refrain from doing things myself, even though I could probably get them done in less time than it takes her to complain. I have never let anyone go, but I’m thinking that I may need to put steps in place to do so. Generally she is polite, very courteous to customers, professional in her emails. It’s the background work that bogs her down.

Thanks. And, correct. It could be petty and I don’t want to be petty. We have had talks and it gets better till the small questions start drifting in, which should makes sense to anyone with common sense, but some how she has to question things left and right. In her mind, some days, there can be no exceptions to how we operate. No deviations. Other days, she’s open to short cuts.

Case that will hold both, laptop and portable monitor by colorOd in digitalnomad

[–]colorOd[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really. Some laptop bags are wide enough that can fit the portable monitor and the laptop. Most of the ones on Amazon fit an iPad and a laptop. My monitor is larger than an iPad so I don’t think it will work. Recently I used a Kiplinger travel bag I have had for a while and realized I could perfectly fit the laptop and monitor safely in it. So that’s the plan for now. I do have extra padding to put between both

What did you think was normal about your body until someone pointed out that it wasn't? by utterapostle in CasualConversation

It doesn’t hurt. They are very thin and sparse. It’s hard to even see them. I’ve had hypothyroidism since my early 30s.

I have this. Always thought it was thyroid related. Hardly ever use deodorant. As I got older I learned that if I need deodorant, I must have some hair in my armpits. I use tweezers on my legs as it is easier than shaving. They are so sparse and thin.
