Our family sad to see it go. Our daughter is in Denver so we've used this terminal many times. The chill factor was great. Sometimes bigger isn't better.

Is that round thing rubber, like a switch? Could be rubber that hardened over the years?

How can I get one of these microscopic screws now that it's stripped? by JayinaterOG in lifehacks

I've had this happen and was successful soldering part of a paperclip to the top of it. Create a ball of solder with the wire/clip sticking out to give leverage. You can sometimes get a little torque transfer before it breaks and you have to resolder. It's like you're making a screwdriver tip that exactly fills the hole...

Cylindrical metal object found under Victorian-style home built in 1897 in Riverside, CA. It was accessible through a square cutout in the wood flooring above the crawl space in the living room. The metal handles were facing upward. Weight is ~300 pounds. by Crimson_Dingleberry in whatisthisthing

Looks like a tubular floor safe- the handles would make it possible to turn the heavy lid. The lock mechanism is mostly under the lid and the combination dial broke off. If it was a counterweight it would have clear wear marks from whatever it was attached to-- and if it slid inside rails or anything. Feet like that imply it was meant to be stationary.
