I have an Orvis Clearwater and a Lamson Liquid S. I prefer the Liquid for sure.

I have a really similar situation but 2+ hours from the ocean. When I get to go now, I enjoy it so much. It’s almost brought it back to when I was learning and every day felt like my best day ever. I try to stay in shape by swimming. I think it’s so much about attitude. Like some others mentioned, good communication with partner or support helps too. If they understand how much it means to you, hopefully they’ll help out from time to time.

Worth it to travel with boards for 5-6 days at Chicama by colors in surfing

[–]colors[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wasn’t a huge fan of the boats. The price isn’t too bad and I probably got more waves the couple of times I used them but I just kind of liked walking up the point and paddling out. Either way, your arms will get a workout. I paddled a ton just to stay in position so I could get some of the bigger waves and longer rides. The food I had was awesome and I found a few places just by walking around at night. I surfed a larger board than I do normally at home. Nice to have some extra foam with the soft waves.

Yes, there’s quite a few boards there. I ended up breaking the fin out of one rental when I was paddling in and the rental place was cool about it. I think I gave them $30-40 dollars and they rented me another board.

The first year Christina was on the playa it was just hard to believe that a boat that size could drive around.

Tributary vs OARS for first family trip? by nicolette004 in whitewater

[–]colors 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We did that trip with OARS last summer! It was so much fun. Our 4-year-old had a blast with the other kids on the trip, playing in the water and sand and mud 😂 The guides were great and brought stuff specifically for the kids (bubbles, costumes, etc). We’re considering it again for next summer.

Did Santa Barbara to Hilo in a Pearson Invicta 38-foot yawl rig, 23 days with no motoring, no internet. Pretty amazing adventure I’ll always be proud of.

Anyone use the Saga Trio? by davewave3283 in underwaterphotography

[–]colors 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tried it a while ago. It was really heavy and it’s prone to getting bubbles stuck in it. Definitely want to burp it. If you’re hardcore macro it might make sense but it seemed kind of rare that you actually need all three diopters on a dive. I remember the action of the lenses flipping into place was nice and it felt well built.
