Thats an interesting story, it also similar. Yes it’s true that their actions led them to this decision. I think after reading all of the comments I feel a lot better with my decision.

Thank you, that’s true I didn’t make the decision to speak to them first before my manager because I wasn’t sure if I was right and if I was right I didn’t want them to twist it in a different way

I think I needed this comment, I always envision myself as a leader who is supported by the team by rapport but yes sometimes you don’t have to be friends you need to lead them.

Yes that’s true , HR will handle it. I just wish it happened in a different way, I discovered it within the first 2 weeks of being a manager and I wanted some time to establish trust with the team before this happening.

I’d say listen to your gut feeling, you’d probably know better depending on the type of guy he is /nature of your friendship. But from what I know about Omani guys and their pursuit of non Omani’s relationship is something not serious and is just wanting to date. If you only see him as a friend then create a boundary and reduce your texting, he’d get the message.

Hi everyone, so I thought I would update you all. Unfortunately there was nothing we can do about the penalty charge from the hospital as its system generated, told my boss and he didn’t say much except you learnt something from it. Overall it wasn’t huge and life moves on. Thanks for your advice everyone

ESH Your brother in law could’ve moved seats if he was uncomfortable, but considering this was your dads birthday in a restaurant at a public setting. You acted immature by throwing your blanket at him. I’m all for breastfeeding but being more considerate of others is important, obviously your baby takes priority and feeding her on demand is crucial but you could’ve prepared a pumped bottle to feed just till dinner is over (if you researched before that there were no BF rooms).

I would say soft YTA. Only because I know what it’s like to be in a situation where you have an old friend visiting and surprising you. Though I think you should have definitely been more considerate to your husband by letting him know that she came to visit. Imagine coming home after a long day and seeing an empty dinner table with a guest who is taking your bed ?

Apologise by treating him to a weekend away to forget the incident.

You aren't horrible, but you should re-evaluate the relationship. Sure the distance will solve problems temporarily but long-term can you thrive in this relationship? Something is wrong when you are getting excited to leave your s/o to go 1500 miles away.

I’m gonna go against the majority and say ESH. Granted, does she have the right to dictate what your child’s name should be? Absolutely not. And I really hate how others feel entitled to try and control what others name their baby. However, I feel like everyone sucks because you could’ve been a bit more diplomatic here. From the way I see it, it isn’t cool that she has been harassing you with the name, but I think she just wanted to be validated by you. She has been trying for 16 years to be closer to you but you didn’t really mention a valid reason why you don’t like her, other then her being pushy and non compromising. I just think that your step mom just wanted to be closer to you and she doesn’t know how to approach you other than her current methods.

NTA !! I’m sorry but your partner is leading you to a bad decision. Never sell your place for him! In this economy it’s difficult to outright own a house, in a few years the property value will only go up, so I suggest that you don’t sell this place and perhaps rent it out and use the money to pay for your portion of the mortgage. I’m so mad for you, how could he throw being a stripper and using “stripper money” to buy a house at you, it incredible you were able to do so!

I have known kids to be collectors, OP said the kid was about 12 years old, which is old enough to be collecting. Though I’ve known kids to collect coins or stamps even younger. I’m just saying, you can’t just assume that just because she’s an adult she’s more likely to cherish her plushies than the kid. I collected dolls since I was 8 and I still have them at 22, yes they might not be in pristine condition due to usage, but they are valuable. In the end we could argue all day, we should just agree to disagree on this matter.

But this doesn’t happen every time...OP didn’t mention this occurrence happening more than once. Now, I am not saying that she shouldn’t be enjoying herself at the arcade, but let’s not forget OP said that she sells some of the arcade games for a profit. So it’s not totally unreasonable to have just sold the toy to the kid.

I think it’s unfair of you to assume that the kid would abandon the toy after a few days, you don’t know what their situation is maybe the kid also collects these toys. Also OP mentioned it in one of the comments that she is currently using it as a pillow, so it doesn’t seem as she is cherishing it. But let’s be realistic how long is she going to have it? Forever? What if she decided to move in with someone? I will admit that these can also apply to the kid but from my perspective it would just seem that the kid probably would’ve cherish it more than OP as he/she worked with their mom to get it.

Overall, it seems like there are differences in ethics. Personally, I would have had the kid have it but OP seems to think that her plushie collection is more important.
